Have been playing with the spirograph extension a bit and now I can produce hipotrochoid that match the topview of the "roof' structure, but I cannot add a right sample parameter, to align the nodes with the repeating shape of the path.
Tried to reproduce it with the parametric curves but then again, the ending parameter of t doesn't have a matching input with the function.
Guess it is one of those times that shouts for a new extension.
Oh those future plans. And postponing.

Anyway.
The previous elevation views with the steel structure, cylindrically projected in this post, is now turned to 3D rendering with blender:

New 3D renderings.







































I know I know, this is far from inkscape's svg, but the design was made with the help of it. Like, the stereographic panorama image's core I couldn't have made without drawing the lens 2D sections first.
Another example, the newly added pattern in the centre. Those are made up of circle evolvents, and were imported straight as an svg into blender.

Decided to modify a bit on the textures and the model, as the specular shading of the white made it look totally black from a direction; not good.

Will have to go by these:
