Title: Vector with a line
Post by: jonyadmin on July 25, 2018, 08:45:29 AM

Hello, how are you?

I have a CNC and I want to vectorize a sentence but it is coming out with contour, I want it to be with only one line to stay as close to human writing as possible can you do it automatically?

As it is coming out in the attached image.

I want without a single line!

Can someone help me?

Hi.

The keyword is centerline trace.
Inkscape doesn't come with it by default. Worry not, there is an extension for the job.
link for the extension (https://github.com/fablabnbg/inkscape-centerline-trace)

Haven't tried it myself, but remembering the problem coming up some times before.

Welcome to the forum!

This idea won't help, if your project requires strictly using yours or someone's handwriting.  But if it does not have to be so specific, you might want to try Hershey Text.  It's a kind of text which is made with a single line.  Hhmm, it seems like I don't have a link to where you can download, but a simple internet search should find something.

^- as far as I know it is built into inkscape already. Extensions/Render/Hershey Text...
