Speed is the biggest draw back with it too. I use it professionally and I'm starting to look at other alternatives due to that speed issue.
Also getting customers who are requesting AI files. Not exporting to AI is a big killer too. SVG's in Illustrator are also brutal.

Re: Switching renderer to cairo
Is there any news on switching the renderer? No. It's on the roadmap for Inkscape 0.49. The next step will be merging the cairo-rendering branch into the current development tree (Inkscape trunk). I am looking forward to it. Will fonts render crisper? No idea what you are referring to. Any screensh...

I have a few questions:
Will fonts render crisper?
Will there be performance improvements?

Re: UI Idea -- Gradient Fill / Stroke
Again, I'm sorry I didn't see your reply sooner (re other message). I like the improvements! My only remaining question is about Vacuum Defs. I was not aware that all the unused gradients were not removed. Whenever I've used it, it has removed them all. So I'm wondering if there might be a bug, or ...

Oh gosh, Sean, I'm so embarassed Don't be, nothing to be embarrassed about. -- I never did see your reply to mine, in your message about improving the gradient "editor" When I was thinking about you doing some work on Inkscape's interface, I was hoping for some of those cool circul...

Re: My work with Inkscape
Wow, yes, excellent work! I really like the sculptris logo/icon -- very creative! Thank you. Also the 2nd one from top, with brush options. Those circular setting controls are just incredible!! Thank you. The idea is to keep everything at the mouse, the user never has to go away from their work. He...

My work with Inkscape
I read Prokoudine's interview and figured I should show my work with Inkscape. I use it in my day job--everyday. And I love it. I mostly do Interface design for applications with logos and web design also. http://www.seanjmacisaac.com/2D/logos/utakeout.png http://www.seanjmacisaac.com/2D/interface/s...

All I want for 0.49 is much better performance.
I'm a professional UI designed who uses inkscape daily, and sometimes my files get pretty complex and the sluggish performance in inkscape really puts a damper on my speed. All I want is not a new feature, I just want a speed boost. - Here are some of the things that I find are slow - Working with m...

UI Idea -- Gradient Fill / Stroke
Newer version: http://www.seanjmacisaac.com/2D/interface/inkscape/gradient_editor_3.png An idea for making the gradient window better Here is why I turned it into a scroll list instead of the drop down: The list allows a few things that the drop down doesn't. 1. Searching 2. Removal of gradients usi...
