Re: Download 0.47 Tonight McAfee Alerted on it.
Well I downloaded it anyway and McAfee claims it took a virus out of it. A-square and malwarebytes didn't find anything in it.

Re: Unable to Open Extracted Files
Are you getting an error message? If so post it here. The file you download should have everything and install itself. I haven't have any problems yet with 4 installs of the regular version and I don't know how many of the developers version. I have at least 5 different version of inkscape install o...

Re: Dialogs constantly getting stuck off screen
I don't know what the search interface in Windows 7 is like but I heard it's close to the Vista interface. Here is how I find it when I'm being lazy: http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/9706/herec.jpg Edit: Ack, Micro posted at the same time as me. And the text that says "your account name here&...

Re: Unable to Open Extracted Files
thanks EarlyBlake. I did all that, and have moved the files to the Program File. Now what do I click on to get it to run? That one. http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/8743/thatone.jpg Inkscape is not showing up for me under the Start >>All Programs menu. But it does shows up under Start menu after yo...

Re: Unable to Open Extracted Files
The zipped versions are not self extracting you have to get the 7-zip (or equivalent) utility to open them. I think link for the .exe file is right in front of the compressed file link on the inkscape site. I usually get the zipped file and uncompressed it with 7-zip. Which for some reason will only...

Re: Selection for path difference operation
Sorry about the pop ups, i thought mediafire was ok. I use firefox with the ad blocker extension, I haven't seen a pop up for so long I forget that stuff still goes on. I don't blame you. I blame brynn for using IE! ;) J/K :D I use FF too. I did not notice either in FF. I just wonder wh...

Re: Fiddling with paths
Well in inkscape there away a bunch of way to do anything. And how you color those areas depend on how the black part of the cactus is construed. Is it all closed paths with fills? Or mixed? (I'm assuming the parts of the path you can see through are not exclusions because, if they were you already ...

You can look video tutorials on heathenx's site http://screencasters.heathenx.org/tag/envelope/ The bottom one is easier to understand. The upper one is easier to use. The technique in the bottom tutorial on the page works much better with drawing table that has pressure function compatible with ink...

Re: Selection for path difference operation
Thanks Early. Yeah, I still can't open it I went to http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?nwl1igeryzj with IE 8. I had to wade through waist high pop-ups to get to the file. They made me look at a Family Guy quiz. I hate Family Guy ! But I did eventually download the file with IE. I had IE'...

Re: Selection for path difference operation
Sorry I did see the SVG file. I was rushing. It's because of the group. You currently can't do path operations on a grouped set of objects. Un-group them and you can do a difference on the individual path. Or ungroup and then do a combined cntl k on paths (that were converted from text). Then you ca...

Re: Strange export bug
If that is the export bug where part of the path is dropped. You can get around it by export at a much bigger resolution then scale it down in something like gimp. Or you could try another program to make the png: Batik http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/batik/too ... rizer.html

Re: rectangle horizontally
Oops never mind I was thinking of something I did like 6 months ago to level a rectangle on a challenge without using XML. Now that I think about I left out a bunch of step that involved snapping the center of rotation twice and used couple of guide line and is complete over kill for what you want. ...

You can use pattern along path Effect >> Generate from path >> Pattern along path or live path effects at the bottom of the path menu. http://www.inkscape.org/screenshots/gallery/inkscape-0.45-patternalongpath.png http://screencasters.heathenx.org/blog/2008/07/15/episode-066-intro-to-live-path-effec...

Re: rectangle horizontally
You can do it with the snapping options. Turn on either bonding box snapping or node snapping under Shift Cntl D . Also turn on either snap to grid or pull down a guide line from the ruler and turn on snap to guides. If you want to keep the proportions probably using the snap bonding box corners is ...

I like the caption on the bottle: This drawing is shown at the end of the first chapter of Tavmjong Bah's Inkscape Online Manual, without any explanation as to how it is done (the instructions are only available in the printed book). Hence, I tried to reproduce the drawing solely from the picture. C...

Re: Bus stops with name
Inkscape will only store the directory path to imported images by default. You can embed them so they are stored in the inkscape file effects menu >> images >> embed all images. Or you can put them in a subfolder you move with the SVG file. If you move the PNGs to a sub file you will have to up date...

Re: Editing path data ('d') attribute directory for an arc
I think it's more likely you put in some coordinates that weren't executable. That d (line node what ever you want to call it) has the coordinates of the open circle nodes on ellipse. The handles you move to make a particle ellipse or arc . If you typed put in points that aren't on inkscape's extrap...
