Can you tell I'm a blond? Sorry about that - don't know why I was looking under Filters when I've used it correctly so many times....
Thanks for your patience.

paths effects editor sometimes missing
I've had this problem several times - I open either an existing SVG that I made with Inkscape OR create a new SVG from one of the Inkscape templates (the only templates I use) and when I click on "Filters" Path Effects Editor doesn't always show up. I'll see "Filter Editor" and &...

Re: path effects ruler
Thanks for the other option, SUV! I do a lot of intricate needlework and if I have to modify something on one side, I usually have to duplicate it on the other so being able to edit more than one path in a variety of methods gives me so much flexibility.

Re: path effects ruler
Thanks, Brynn! You're a genius!!! It worked like a charm and is such a time saver and makes a frustrating, repetitive process so much easier. Definitely something to remember!

path effects ruler
Is there any way to set a default of some kind on the "Path Effects" ruler? Every time I use it, I have to reset all of the dialog boxes, even if I'm converting segments into rulers one right after another. I've looked in both "Doc Preferences" and "Inkscape Preferences"...

Re: full screen
Brynn - I was talking about maximized size - sorry about that. Druban - I don't have all the bars and palettes open. Went back into templates, re-opened, reset, re-saved and now it's working - don't know what I did differently - but it's what I wanted so life is good! Thanks for the info, guys! KJW

full screen
I can't get Inkscape to open in full screen mode. I've gone into "Inkscape Preferences" and have "Save and restore window geometry" checked, gone into the Inkscape templates folder and made sure that the 2 I use the most (Default, and Default_mm) are with the full screen open and...

Re: drifting nodes
the numberic precision is at 8, as far as the distance they move, I'm not sure. I just know they don't stay put. Do you mean that you create a pattern and save it, and then the next time you open it, the nodes have moved? Or do you mean that you're cutting the pattern on a machine, and the nodes are...

drifting nodes
When I open craft patterns that I've made the nodes seem to drift off of the path intersections I've snapped them to. The pattern consists of a graph-paper-like grid that I've made (not created by Inkscape's grid feature), and simple, point to point lines that are the actual pattern design. I tried ...

move tool bars
I just downloaded the latest version of Inkscape and now have 2 tool bars that are stuck to the right side of the screen. I don't see the handles that allow you to move them. I have clicked everywhere and run the mouse all over the bars but they don't appear, nor does the selector change from 1 larg...

email?
Not too long ago I read something that listed 2 Inkscape compatible probrams, one that was great for editing scanned images, black and white only was best, and the other for color images. Can anyone tell me what they were? I'm pretty sure it was a news/update email type of thing but I can't find the...

Thanks so much - it's a lot faster than what I had been doing! Could you tell me where you found it? I searched the forum and found a list of shortcuts but didn't see this one on it.

I constantly switch between normal and outline views - is there any way to do a better shortcut than the "Atl+V D O" method?

path edit - can it be done?
I want to join the red line in the first image to the purple line to form a closed path **without** having to break the purple line's path. http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/5766/howtoedit.jpg I have combined the paths (Ctrl+k), but, of course, the paths were still open. Using the unite command gave ...

how to add images to posts
Hi guys
I'd like some help with a path question but can't find info on how to add the image to my post. The last time I did it as an attachment - was that correct, or is there another way?

plotter/cutter for stencils
Can anyone recommend a low cost plotter/cutter for making stenils? I don't need anything that prints, just cuts, and would like it to handle materials such as vinyl and acetate, with a max cutting size of about 24" across. If smaller is cheaper, I'm still interested.
Thanks!

Re: crashing when editing
Are you hit by bug #495483 “0.47 very slow or freezes when combing complex paths (ctrl + k)”? I was thinking that the slow responses I've been having were just happening to me - I didn't realize that there might be more to them then that. I'd propose you test to combine less and to use (nested) gro...

Re: crashing when editing
I'm guessing the image you're working in is either huge, and/or has a lot of layers, gradients, paths, nodes. Other possible causes would be using Filters or Extensions. “crash when node-editing pattern-filled object” It's black and white, no layers, gradients, filters or extensions, but has huge n...
