Re: seeking 3d drawing program - off topic - but don't know where else to ask
Yes, I think we met on launchpad. I don't have have any pics of the kind of work I want to use the 3d program for. I've been doing only traditional stained glass for a long time. There are sculptures I wanted to do but it was too difficult for me to plan on my own. So, I'm hoping to use a 3d program...

Re: recommendations for tablet?
Thanks for the suggestions. However, I am looking for a more affordable alternative to ipad or surface pro, where the image is on the tablet, rather than a separate screen. Any ideas?

Re: seeking 3d drawing program - off topic - but don't know where else to ask
Lots of info here! Thanks everyone. I make sculptures out of sheets of glass. To reply to a comment - I make 3D forms with flat surfaces. 2D measurements don't help for the 3rd dimension as lines get foreshortened or lengthened in 2d to compensate for perspective. It'll save a lot of glass to do tri...

Re: stroke to path with crossing lines - can't get it to do what I want
Brynn - That is just what I want to do. And yes, I would have a thin stroke outlining the forms. Your celtknot - is this how Knot transforms, leaving all segments separate?

Re: seeking 3d drawing program - off topic - but don't know where else to ask
Papercut models sounds very interesting. Bryn, send to what other program and for what? Yes, measurements of the pieces is important. You wrote: Do you mean like for a 3d printer? I mean, if you want to draw the scupture in a 3d program, is it just to see what it's going to look like? Because if you...

stroke to path with crossing lines - can't get it to do what I want
I created an image made of strokes with parallel and perpendicular lines that cross at several points (1st) I did "convert to path", adjusting width of the stroke to define the width of the newly created paths. I wound up with an outline of all edges (2), but I wanted to create "weavi...

Re: How to set measurements to default at inches?
I understand what is said about scale, and changing size to the correct size at 0.96. However, since it seems that scale in in. set to 1.0 makes my test object print at the correct size, what is the benefit of using 0.96? Regarding setting up for inches, this is a daunting procedure for me. Any chan...

Re: seeking 3d drawing program - off topic - but don't know where else to ask
I'm looking for a program where I can design sculptures with geometric shapes that I can take measurements from for building the sculpture by hand. Not 3d printing.
Will the programs give you a layout with measurements?

Re: How to set measurements to default at inches?
I don't understand how to set it to always be in inches. I know basic functions. Creating a file for templates is unfamiliar. The scale is currently 1.000 and things work fine. If I change it to 96, not so much. Did I miss something? 4" box - with scale at 1.0, prints out 4", size boxes on...

images on workspace disappeared!!??
I typically work with several images scattered around the "page" (what shows when you press 5). When I opened an svg and a pdf, all that work outside the page is gone!!! This never happened before. I'm new to version .92. Is this something that happens with it? I had been using an old vers...

Inkscape opening pdf document to small partial window only
When I open a pdf, it opens to a small window that cannot be made bigger.
Does PDF file only save what's on the doc, or also save general workspace?

Re: Inkscape error msg, freezing & shutting down
I'm using inkscape 0.48 on windows 7.
Is there something short of getting a drop box account I can do to help this along? That's a lot of steps for someone like me who is a bit of a babe with computer stuff.

I got the attached error msg 4 times in a couple of hours. Is there something I'm doing to cause this? If not, can I do anything to prevent it? Re: seeking 3d drawing program - off topic - but don't know where else to ask
I'm looking for a program best suited for designing sculpture. An ideal program would provide measurements of shapes so that I know what sizes to cut when making the scuptures. I don't know programming.
