Re: Need help cutting images within an image
Theozh, I tried reproducing your process. Once I get the image into inkscape, how do I know it is vectorized? I hit the "edit paths by nodes" tool and do not see any nodes. Also, I then tried exporting g-code from this and all I got was some sort of garbage which looked like a raster image...

Re: Need help cutting images within an image
Moini, thanks for verifying that it works on your computer. I will bet you $100 that it was not done on a windows7 machine. That is where the problem lies. I have reported this to the github website in hopes the authors can find the issues with a windows machine.

Re: Need help cutting images within an image
OK Folks, getting closer. I finally got the autotrace program to run within Centerline Trace. However, I am getting all these strange error codes. Does anyone know why this is happening and why the program just doesn't work properly? Traceback (most recent call last): File "centerline-trace.py&...

Re: How to install Autotrace on a windows system
I did this and now Centerline Trace doesn't complain about Autotrace anymore, as it can now find it. So, thank-you all for that.
Why the executable doesn't modify the path is another problem the author can worry about. Sure would save everybody a lot of trouble.

Re: How to install Autotrace on a windows system
So, I created a directory called Autotrace in the program files (x86) directory because I noticed this was in my path. Copied all the files into this directory. Still doesnt work. Tried a directory on my desktop. Nothing. I have attached a photo of my path which is shown on the screenshot. Screensho...

Re: How to install Autotrace on a windows system
Autotrace appears to be a flat file. All the files are in one directory so there is no bin directory.

Re: Need help cutting images within an image
Thanks Brynn for all that. I had read about the knot thing but cant say for sure if I will see this or not cause the dang feature just doesn't seem to work on a windows machine. I went to your tutorial and tried to follow it. It just seems like a whole lot of work and learning curves to overcome wha...

Re: How to install Autotrace on a windows system
Thanks for the help so far folks but no luck. I went to the command prompt and entered "autotrace" and it complained that it is not a recognized command. The directory that autotrace is installed in is in the Program Files (x86) directory. This directory is stated multiple times in my PATH...

Re: Trace bitmap query
Thank=you very much. I was able to get Centerline Trace installed only to have it complain about Autotrace not being installed. I have created a separate post on how to get that issue fixed. Thanks again.

How to install Autotrace on a windows system
On a previous post I made about removing double lines on complicated drawings, it was suggested I used Centerline Trace. This feature seems to make sense as a possible solution. I was able to install it however when I run this, it complains that I do not have Autotrace installed. (hello, package it ...

Re: Need help cutting images within an image
This is just a sample image to prove my point. If I am to use inkscape for laser cutting for my marquetry pictures, I will be importing pictures, not creating them, so I will need to know how to use inkscape with the supplied images. This should be a no brainer, but I haven't come across the solutio...

Re: Trace bitmap query
I went to that center line tracing link that Moini suggested and downloaded the zip file. There does not seem to be an install file that will install this extention into inkscape. Can anybody explain the procedure? That too, was not present on the website (we are not all coders)

Need help cutting images within an image
I am brand new to the forum. I searched around a bit and could not find any solutions to my problem. Although I came across something called centerline something or other I could not find any way to install it into inkscape. Remember, I am a newbie to Inkscape but not to drawing packages in general....
