Selecting (and then joining) multiple vertices
Supposing I have two straight lines A and B where one of the vertices of A coincides precisely with a vertex of B. How can these (and only these) vertices be selected such that they can be joined together? Ideally I would just like to be able to marquis select both vertices with the node editor tool...

Re: eps with complex clipping paths
I'm looking at the original svg right now. Is that supposed to be in isometric projection? There are some inaccuracy. Also, is that lined shading technically correct? I would draw it by separate paths with no clipping. But for technical drawing rules that is not a correct one to my knowledge. I agr...

Re: eps with complex clipping paths
Hello: It's a recurrent problem: exporting from svg to pdf or eps generates strange results, at least in Inkscape 0.48. An unpleasant behaviour. I tried to export your svg to pdf using a virtual pdf printer, and the result was the same that with saving as eps, which I asume is the way you export yo...

Re: eps with complex clipping paths
Does it work better with this one ? Hmm... thanks for that, though despite the preview looking like it does the job when I actually open it I get the following 8_2_planestrain_pattern_clean_eps.svg Which isn't quite right (a million miles better than what I had though) - It seems to have scaled the...

Re: eps with complex clipping paths
Maybe try to create pattern instead http://tucsonlabs.com/2009/03/19/patterns-with-inkscape/ Thanks for the suggestion, I tried a pattern and things were looking promising (new svg file: 8_2_planestrain_pattern.svg ) but the result after saving to eps (which I have to save as svg so I can upload he...

eps with complex clipping paths
I'm having difficulty creating an eps file of the following image (it contains a clipping mask with many lines which act as shading) which is destined for inclusion into a tex file 8_2_planestrain.svg When I save as an eps however, the result is the following: 8_2_planestrain_broken.svg Which looks ...

Re: Cannot open large .tif or .png images
well 20000*20000 is 400 million pixels, and neglecting transparency, with each having to hold 3 bytes (rgb) after decompression (so already we need, after any intermediate data structures to recover the original bitmap from tif/png compression, at least 1.2 gb of memory), it would appear you're aski...

Re: How to align straight lines from shift + f6?
Hi, As for where the two paths meet, perhaps the bounding box of the selection surrounds the entire extents of the group (including stroke width) yet with both vertices coinciding, align ignored stroke width (you will need to nudge by half stroke width). As for the other rectangle, I cannot be sure ...

Xav ---- That's precisely what I'm after! Re: inkscape arithmetic and transforms
Thanks for the responses all - I will respond to them all within the same post ... Lazur URH --------- As for your first suggestion, though I agree that the spacer object would acheive the desired result (position centre), the amount of operations I would need to perform is comparible to the number ...

Re: inkscape arithmetic and transforms
i, thanks for answers and the welcome. For answer (1), can you suggest a better way of doing this than my own method, since this one is a bit fiddly for positioning relative to object centre. In particular, I use an dummy box positioned at (0,0) of width/height equal to the x and y ordinates I'm int...

inkscape arithmetic and transforms
I like to type mathematics (using LaTeX) and want to add diagrams to the documents that I create. I am trying to learn Inkscape (version 0.48) (mainly because typing latex directly is fantastic, and I no longer have access to Illustrator) Back in my artworker days I was a dab-hand with illustrator 8...
