Thanks to both that replied. In fact I ended up removing the nodes between the corner nodes and the segment straightened out. I am really enjoying learning Inkscape as it is my first encounter with vector graphics. Thanks again.

Hello All, I am working through the exercises in the Quick Start section of the Inkscape Manual. One exercise, the Fuji Hiking and Mountaineering Club logo, has a step where specific nodes are selected, converted to Corner Nodes, then straightened to allow manipulating the letter "C" etc. ...
