Re: Metalhead Union
It looks good in itself but my only comment would be that there is not much about the logo that screams out METAL! . I would be trawling the net for some seriously stereotyped images of raging head bangers in full metal regalia. For inspiration... What ever it is you do it should say METAL with out...

Re: Metalhead Union
Much improved over the first version. The solid black works. Maybe put a pentagram in there somewhere. Maybe as a map compass rose. I'll tinker with that. or make the spikes behind everything into a pentagram. I think it would make it more 'metal' It was one (filled it in) but the weight didn't fee...

Re: Images on public domain
What does it really mean releasing an image on public domain, and how should one go about doing it? AFAIK you simply mark as such once you make it public. Embed in it any metadata the format supports I also think would be wise. Though, once it's PD anything can be done with it. I think someone can ...

Re: Metalhead Union
Updated. http://img370.imageshack.us/img370/5498/ibmhfe2.th.png Could you get a map that is looking down on the globe from a point above the north pole that would give you a lot less negative space. Or warp and simplify the map more the ad some longitude and latitude lines. I see people do that a lo...

Re: Metalhead Union
I'd go solid rather than outline, and delete some of the smaller islands and so forth to clean it up... Yeah. Makin' it solid was the way to go. I still feel there's too much negative space above/below the map. I think that's what's bothered me. I like the map but it just doesn't have enough weight...

Re: Metalhead Union
I'd try a map without the borders, as the current one is a bit visually cluttered. Yeah. That was my issue with the middle also. I found a nice SVG to use without borders on Wikimedia. I'd also change the size (and maybe font?) of the text in the black ring as its kinda getting lost in there at the...

Metalhead Union
So I've seen a " Headbangers Union " t-shirt and thought "I could do better." . So I started tinkering: http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/470/ibmheg2.th.png I got many ideas but don't know which direction to go. The middle with the map is mostly bothersome atm. (please try to co...

Inkscape branded wallpaper
Ok. So I imagine all of us around here are Inkscape lovers so I was thinking we could show our skill and post our idea of a great Inkscape fan wallpaper. Something that uses the logo and such.
Lets go with 2560x1600 (16:10) as a rendered size.

Re: Severed Fifth "Tilted Crest"
It doesn't seem like this was created from scratch in Inkscape (nothing wrong with that) since I had ungroup multiple time before I could get to some objects--it's not the type of grouping I would expect someone to create deliberately. Everything was done in Inkscape, though not done just in this f...

Buy one. You'll wonder how you got on without it.

Pencil
I gotta say, if you have a Wacom pad, it's *really* nice. Really close to drawing on paper.
It hasn't been too actively developed past few months though.

Oh. It's important you have the item you want to trace selected.

I will once the license is sorted.
I still have no clue why a plain .svgz is 10x smaller. (besides being zipped)

Re: Severed Fifth "Tilted Crest"
Nice image. It's my understanding that cloning adds very little to the overall size of the file. It's duplicating that gets you into trouble. Ahh.... I'll try that. :) PS. Has Jono seen that yet? Yes. He's been too busy to post it on the site so he said I can make it public and he'll post it once h...

Re: Severed Fifth "Tilted Crest"
I have no clue. There are no bitmaps so I'm at a loss. Funny thing is, saving it as a "plain svg" vs. "Inkscape svg" cuts 7MB off the size. Weird. So: Inkscape svg = 25MB Inkscape svgz = 8MB plain svg = 18MB plain svgz = 2.5MB I would post it but since it's client-work atm I can'...

Re: Severed Fifth "Tilted Crest"
Everything is vector. I'm actually doing the cover art as well. I have all the sources. Part of why it's so big is the bird from the crest is tiled in the background 1360 times. Look at the 16:10 render to see. Actually, looking at it, the 16:10 SVG is 25MB. There's alot of parts to it. As well as ...

Circle of Obama
Note : This is in no way a political thread. Take trolling elsewhere. I saw the Obama logo and noticed the simplicity but great effectiveness and versatility in it. I wanted to tinker with it and the Ubuntu "Circle of Friends" logo. THIS page shows some variants. So with my admiration for...
