I did download the 64 bit, 0.48.4 r

I've just updated my ancient Inkscape program and am finding the dark gray border difficult for me. Is there any way to change this to a lighter color?

Ok, I've got it working for me.

Instead of starting the bounding box at the top left of the letter, start it at the bottom right. Has worked perfect me for every time.

I'll post this on the tutorial page also for those having trouble over there.

Try scrolling down below your document to see if your letter is there. I thought mine was disappearing also, but it is there. It's clear at the bottom and upside down too! If I figure out how to fix it, I'll be sure to post back.
