Saving as an svg to use with cameo

I have a jpeg picture that I want to save as svg then cut with a silhouette cameo. It's the jpeg attached. When I trace it is producing a file, very much looking like what this looks like. The problem is, as I am hoping to cut this file, each 'line' in the design is actually made up of more than one...

Tracing to save to svg

Exporting files as dxf

I have a silhouette cameo and the basic software doesn't open svgs. I am bringing in my files, tracing in inkscape and saving as dxf. everything looks great. However when I take back to silhouette studio it all goes wrong with extra lines etc :( Any ideas why?
