Re: Invalid XML file
I apologize, I wasn't aware these two forums were connected, to be clear I asked on the community first, then receiving no replies there I posted on the inkscape forum.

Re: Invalid XML file
Well I renamed the file, but is a file size of 0 kB, so I am thinking it just went "poof" However a new preferences.xml is in the folder, and no error when opening Inkscape. Good to go for now.

Rectangles with notches in the corners
i just did a few battery level icons for fun, I noticed that 2 or 3 or the corners had "notches" in them and were not "nice and square". I fiddled with the edit path and scaled them to get the notches to go away, is this a normal condition? or is there something I don't know abou...

Re: IE9 snagged my svg files
Tried that when you click browse, inkscape shows but when you click ok, it doesn't stay in the list under "other programs" Going the other way as you mentioned svg files are associated with IE, and you cannot remove the checkmark.

IE9 snagged my svg files
A week or so ago I noticed that IE9 made itself the default handler of svg files. I tried re associating them with Inkscape, in the "open with" dialog, you can browse to the inkscape exe, and select it but it will not stay. So I tried the other way around, selecting a program, and selectin...

Re: Not opening "certain" svg files
OK, on default program issue it appears IE is "hardwired" to open svg files, there is no changing it so far, I will tackle that another day.

I am running 0.48.4. I will add a sample of one of the files and maybe someone ca...

Font Error
I have been using Inkscape for some time, today I get a "font not found on system" error, the font(s) in question are properly installed on my system. I read about this on some searches but I couldn't find a way to correct it. Running 0.48.4, on a clean install.
Any idea?

Entering a specific distance for path node movement.
I am trying to make some simple virtual award ribbons for a group I am in. I have done a simple notched ribbon, by creating a node between two existing nodes, then drug that node to make the notch, is there a way to enter a certain number of units to achieve exact distances? Or is it more like drag ...
