Re: upgrade on old comps?
Thanks a lot for such a detailed replay. I got 1GB RAM (with no change to increase - schools comps) with Inscape 0.4.6 and as reading your info I am not gonna change anything. Allhough inkscape sometimes crashed, although it starts 30s, it somehow works... Its really strange to me too why develepers...

upgrade on old comps?
I got a pretty old computers. Can someone say if newer versions need more system requirements (are slower) on same hw/sw or there is some speed otimalization (not "just" new features) in newer versions? Special new features are not so much important to me, the speed is most significant. ha...

too many nodes ...
Hi, I create rectangle, use Object to path, and in each corner I got 2 nodes. Is it somehow possible to get just 1 not in each corner? And second thing: not sure how to do it precisely: sometimes I catch the node (when click by mouse), sometimes caching handels. How to make sure I catch just the nod...

Re: default settings
My so far solution is that I have saved somewhere default prefrences.xml and if in inkscape happens something I can not revert I close Inkscape and run the batch file that copies default preferences.xml to proper destination.

Re: rectangle horizontally
Still I can not get the result. One: When holding CTRL while rotate it really snaps to some angles but, but *relatively* to angle I came from. Well And I would need to set absolutely zero angle to horizontal line. Two: its the same again: its only relatively to current angle. Also, reverting the hos...

Re: rectangle horizontally
Well I might do something wrong but nothing of these works with me. If I enable snapping and check on the Bounding to box corners I can not see any difference to when unchecked. If check on Snap to guides then it snaps always doesn't matter the rectangle baseline is horizontally or not. Is there som...

Re: text on circle placed well
Now is everything clear. Anyway it could be done somehow more simple. I think its more usual to need a text at the top of circle at the first attempt. Thank you.

Re: text on circle placed well
I might understand what you mean but still - its quite complicated. When I rotate the circle to have the node shaped like a circle at the bottom I cant see this node - so I have to guess its position and many times to switch between "rotation" mode and "node visibility" mode.

But on the first attempt (after placing text on curve) I get this http://www.geon.wz.cz/sharing/unwanted.svg and then have to try hard to turn it around to the right position. Is there any trick how to achieve this precisel...
