Re: Painting particles
I would love such a tool... This is a manual example of a recent piece i did... (self portrait) totally manual.... A particle fill type plug-in would be awesome (or native tool)... I can dream up all types of options... i would like to have it as possible alternative to gradients in that the particl...

Re: vectorizing images
This may be an inappropriate suggestion (i don't know actually) but have you considered more manually vectorizing it? i.e instead of using the auto trace functions.... trace it yourself! You will gain new skills and develop faster by virtue of the practice you get doing this. Ie instead of using an ...

Argh... a fellow seeker...good luck on your quest for the "grail" I think you may need some experience with real woman to pull this one off....LOL (sorry i couldn't resist that one....) yeah good luck it appears you have quite skillfully built up a nice smooth gradient looking filled backg...

Re: New homepage proposal for Inkscape.org
I definitely think your proposal is allot more inviting to the general public... Where as developers and people of this ilk will like the current one better as it is utilitarian...and lets face it they are the ones driving the project... But I think the vast majority of people coming to the site wou...

Dealing from the bottom of the deck!
Put to bottom of layer by default! Also i think it would be very cool if you could have an icon to quickly toggle weather objects are placed on the top or on the bottom of the z-order of all the objects on the active layer.... As i often find my self digitizing from the bottom...this actually makes ...

Display-Color-Highlight:
Holding Alt in combination with the color picker to "Flash highlight" the selected colour across the whole display. (Very handy for helping visualize color shapes when working with or tracing raster images as this function would work on a display level and would be basically a visual aid) ...

Re: Mini colour preview grid
i can think of another possibility to really simplify my previous idea.... That is to incorporate this "Flash highlight" into the colour picker tool.... i.e. they could add in an option for the colour picker tool: "Flash highlight" Which would, as well as displaying the colour of...

Re: Metalhead Union
It looks good in itself but my only comment would be that there is not much about the logo that screams out METAL! . I would be trawling the net for some seriously stereotyped images of raging head bangers in full metal regalia. For inspiration... What ever it is you do it should say METAL with out ...

Re: Mini colour preview grid
P.P.S... Another variation on this idea would be to simply take the last part of this idea and run with that..... I.E ditch the grid all together and simply have a function to "Flash highlight" (briefly change) the current colour (the colour of the pixel currently under the cursor) to a hi...

Re: "Raster like" vector object construction....
There is a setting for it in Calligraphy tool and Under File menu there is an option Input devices, check them out. In the development builds there are also improvements, seems like developers read your mind :) http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/ReleaseNotes047#Calligraphy_tool You can add to ...

ive notice when attempting to manually vectorise raster images that... it can be tough to see where any one colour in the picture extends. i.e. Due to variances in brightness across my LCD screen and interference to my perceptions due to different surrounding pixel colours in different areas on the ...

"Raster like" vector object construction....
Ok....(some background:) i have a pen tablet as many of us no doubt do and I was wondering a few things.... First i thought... 1) Does inkscape have a tool that takes advantage of the pressure sensitive nib (i.e. by making a brush swell or shrink with in confines depending on the pressure) and then ...

I think also it would be very cool to have a new poll section in this forum... This would be divided into 2 sections: Things i love about inkscape... And things i hate about inkscape... any member could log in and create a poll post in either of these areas and describe one thing they either like or...

I realize information relating to the next version of inkscape (.47 at this point in time)... Things i dislike about xara extreme
Anyway im not an expert on xara but i am warming to it and I have some pet hates...(thats part of the warming process  ) 1) Backtracking a node.... The backspace button deletes the last node you have done but after that DELETEs the object? (It should continue to remove nodes... if i want to de...

You can download a development version from the Inkscape download page, under title Development Versions http://www.inkscape.org/download/?lang=en I tried to play with Spiro and it's nice when you move nodes just a bit, but when I move them a greater distance I get hilarious results. I guess I need...

Re: feathering
but by that standard our blurs etc are vector, their defined as a function, and rendered as required... That was what i was asking....so it is a vector function then....(with-out getting too anal) I guess i was comparing the xara feather to the illustrator one... IE the xara feather looks the same ...

Re: feathering
Sorry, I must correct myself, it's is raster but it's generated dynamically. So in most cases it's still very usable. Although I should think it's possible to create a pure vector version of a feather filter. It sounds ok (i could not find it perhaps i dont have the latest version) anyway if pixela...

Re: feathering
Any display device (TFT or LCD or OLED or anything else) is made of small pixel like units. There are no vector display devices. That's why rasterizing any image is the only solution for displaying. This is true... but to qualify myself more... my gripe is not with hardware so much but software...(...

Re: Gradient Mesh
Isn't that awesome... I think the thing is illustrator probably created their mesh tool with simpler stuff in mind... and it was probably the users that realised its potential. At least thats my theory as the alternative is that they were simply inept... which is hard to believe. I was thinking that...

Re: feathering
I wonder how long before illustrator will automatically generate a mesh vector the out line vector are generated now.\? I think they are a way off to be honest... The mesh tool in illustrator although very powerful in concept has been implemented in such a way that i would label it.... (Seriously)....
