This worked for me . . . getting my Bamboo tablet to work in Gimp, and getting past the "No extended input devices" problem. Don't touch your mouse. Use Pen only. Try opening Inkscape or Gimp using the pen only. Then, go to preferences and do the stuff, File menu > Inkscape Preferences > M...
