Specify Filter Effects?

Just wondering is there a way I can simply edit the effect of a filter?

IE: Like the intensity of "pressed steel" so I can get just the right amount of change?

Exporting picture

Hi, I was just wondering... when I export a inkscape picture as png is there a way to make it so that the page is white? As in shapes with no fill are white and things that dont have fill are also white? IE: What I see is what I will get?

Path color is annoying

I'm currently trying to trace something in black... but the path is dark red, and the node handles are also impossible to see. Is there a way to change it so that as I'm tracing with the pen tool I can actualy see what im doing?

Just to clarify: I mean the path color as you make it.

A quick question about node handles.

Is there any way to delete node handles without deleting the actual node itself? Case in point every time I convert a node into a curve it has two curves on each side. Is there a way that I can modify a pre-existing node to have a node with only one node handle? Meaning having a straight line going ...
