Thanks! I read and re-read what you wrote.
I will do some testing. Likely will go with a foot is an inch.
Not sure though, this drawing is big. ; )
Even a reduction of 12 to 1 might not be nearly enough.
But in general I get what you are saying and appreciate what you wrote.

Re: Emma
Thanks for your update! It helps. So what have you learned about res? Yes higher is better for the most part. ...And yet there is more to it than that, or is there? You have to stop somewhere. Your comments on the res of your illustration shows you choose pretty darn high. And for what you are doing...

Re: Sherlock
Nice job for sure. Characters with that few lines are hard (can be) to get right. You have so little to work with that every nuance has to be just so. So what really made it for you that Sherlock Homes really hit home? I always loved the unusual logic, the attention to detail and mostly that he seem...

Re: Emma
A MAZ ING To say the least. So is Inkscape really not even at version 1? Hard to imagine. If you did not say, and you might have, how big did you draw this? Meaning in Inkscape? (not file size) Is that a real question? I am about to post a new drawing of a city park drawing (does not look photo real...

Re: Inkscape Keyboard Shortcuts/Layout Graphic
Very Nice! A few suggestions: Is this for Windows, Linux or Mac or all might be nice to confirm and say ? On the Mac I notice things are different than what I was used to on Ubuntu for example. Would be cool to have a legend (like for the colors of the keys) and a readily printable version. Nice pro...

Re: This brain's looking for feedback and constructive criti
One idea I had (while viewing your illustration) is where does the do-hicky end and the what-do-you-have-it begin? You might consider a slight LIGHT, MEDIUM and DARK color to show that. The difference between LIGHT, MEDIUM and DARK might be really slight, just enough to tell the tale. In looking at ...

Thank you all for your comments! RM: The Contest is the one I mentioned in my Happy New thread. (forgot? We need some drama about this! : ) http://www.ylighting.com/flos-design-contest.html?cvosrc=tumblr.flos.cancan My entry made it in. They said they will pick the winner in January at some point. I...

An Art Contest Entry
So the other day for fun I entered an art contest. And ya, like many impassioned artists having fun, I worked, up until the last moment and then tried to enter my INKSCAPE drawing in PNG format. As in, Export Bitmap. Are you catching my vibe? I was flying so high on Inkscape there was nothing else. ...

Nice hints and tips! I was trying to recreate someone elses logo (from JPG to SVG) to add to a contest entry. Although I had no known filters, I thought of your suggestions and turned off filters and it sped things up.

Re: Wing Gundam
You know there are artists lurking around here that just love to hear this kind of thing.
I like your art,
...And I am not lurking.
Ok, anyone lurking out there? Let these artists know, they are putting it out there - come join us.

Wow, hard not to imagine you did this in Blender. The depth and shadow are amazing and the blurr adds to the effect so well. I feel like I learned something looking at this also.

The pattern in SVG: http://www.vitalbodies.net/site/images/stories/uploads/drawing.svg What I liked about this contest is that I could not really relate to it in the normal way tend I do art. That meant I have to shift, to see it different, to be different than I might normally be. A challenge...

Brynn, every once in a while I wonder if you might enjoy leading some different art things/events/somethings. Not that you do not already do that here on the forum. But ideas are ideas and here are some I have had... Ideas: Wikipedia art, this is art that helps to educate. Entering contests like thi...

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR Inkscape Enthusiasts!
Thank you Inkspots for your comments. We had a blast on New Years! I do not wait for New Years to change, but I like to take some EXTRA time out to ponder the past year, and the year forward and meditate on how to make this year an even better than the last or for that matter any year. In a sense, t...

Re: business card aimed at automotive field
I really like the hosting we use: http://www.dreamhost.com/r.cgi?477702/green.cgi?VitalBodies.net You might consider all your options. Like would a magnet be better in your field than a card. Your card appears to not be the standard size and shape (for the US), will that be an issue for your custome...

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR Inkscape Enthusiasts!
In classic forum etiquette, this is my thread and most people will not post art to it. But I open this thread to all, to post art that is new years related or related to change OR JUST PLAIN EXPRESSION. Also to jump into the conversation about taking your art to the next level. I let go of this bein...

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR Inkscape Enthusiasts!
I have NOT forgot about your offer to ID some of our plant friends! And yes, I have my yard and the park still going too! My Byrd Park graphic gets downloaded pretty often (relatively speaking) so perhaps some other folks are feeling in the groove, of drawing the grove. I like the New Year for a per...

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR Inkscape Enthusiasts!
So what is the story with the Inkscape.org site? It is so old and outdated. I think the art in the gallery has not changed in years. Is the project still alive and well? For this year I would like to do art with a deeper, to the bone, more universal appeal. I would like to move to the center of the ...

I made a few variations playing around with color and such. http://www.vitalbodies.net/site/art-design/wallpaper/425-happy-new-year.html I might take new photos to gain better movement and add more pzazz. The current version was done just for fun/joy. I got thinking about Inkscape and the forum and ...

Re: how to add 3d effect for this pic
That is a challenging thing to draw, but a fun challenge. You might look at test tubes for a visual reference. Here is a test tube image (that I did not draw and might be copyrighted although I think it is a wallpaper) that might help. http://www.umnet.com/pic/diy/screensaver/10%5C13945c2f-422a.jpg ...
