Can an inkscape extension merge 2 nodes from an array at all?

How does one merge/join 2 nodes programatically

Hi Everyone,
I am trying to write a simple extension that merges two nodes from separate paths

Is there a method or a class that would allow me to do that?

Re: vac /vpaint - the future of vector graphics and 2d anima

It is out. The source code is available: https://github.com/dalboris/vpaint open source too. maybe inkscape devs could look into it :) And for people who want to just try it out, win mac and linux builds are available: http://www.vpaint.org/ I also posted it at the mailing list here: inkscape-devel@...

vpaint integration into inkscape

It has been released today! What is vpaint? VPaint is an experimental vector graphics editor based on the Vector Animation Complex (VAC), a technology developed by a collaboration of researchers at Inria and the University of British Columbia, featured at SIGGRAPH 2015. It allows you to create resol...

vac /vpaint - the future of vector graphics and 2d animation

Vpaint is a new vector technology/open source specification that solves limitations of current vector graphics. it's designed to suit animation needs better than svg. Re: "Roadmap brainstorming for 0.92 and future"

Inkscape's current bucket tool gives really bad results. I wish developers would look into improving it: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/A_better_Bucket_Fill_tool_fill Added to that, the way it handles lines is inherently not ideal for animation. The SVG format has a number of limitations th...

"Mass" value for the Pencil tool

I really need a way to slow down my strokes. That is why the "mass" value is extremely useful when using the calligraphy tool. The :tool_calligraphic: tool however creates too many nodes. For that reason I prefer to use the :tool_pencil: tool. The :tool_pencil: tool does not have a "M...

Re: Invincible strokes/vector bucket- better cell shading to

I added a new entry to inkscape's new features wiki page for this:
http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php ... _tool_fill

It has some new suggestions/workarounds !

Cheers

Re: Invincible strokes/vector bucket- better cell shading to

Ah I see what you mean there. That is a good point. It would be nice to have the ability to have a behavior similar to pencil2d. If you are interested in this feature, I urge you to try the latest build: The pencil tool in vector layer mode has the invincible strokes feature. Fills there sort of get...

Re: Invinzible strokes- better cell shading workflow

Emm... and what's with the idea of making a new rendering system, that would allow to add multiple stlye attributes to one single path? Both the knife tool and the bucket fill tool would need many unnecessary steps if you want to edit them later on. I too would like to see the ability to add multip...

personality differences aside, the title of #170588 “Paint Bucket: geometric, not perceptual mode” The bug report name sounds like what I am describing here. But when you read inside- it doesnt seem to be the same feature request. A bucket fill tool that generates a vector object with the desired co...

Re: Invinzible strokes- better cell shading workflow

well, this thread is not about me or MY workflow. It's about a common workflow- the need to do fills and to have cell shading. If you claim that I am bringing awareness about these flaws in the current tools to benefit only myself, then that is like saying that people in general dont have to use the...

Re: Invinzible strokes- better cell shading workflow

Here is a video I made in order to illustrate an issue with the bucket tool in inkscape that is potentially a low hanging fruit. Inkscape can already do this with a dirty workaround. It is not ideal but it works. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XeFgXKzCOlQ&feature=youtu.be Do you see why a vector...

Re: Invinzible strokes- better cell shading workflow

v1nce > I just realized that you are correct! It IS a rendering issue in the viewport. The gap does not grow. :) Unfortunately it is a rendering issue also when you export your image from inkscape (file>export png image). I can see that 1 pixel gap clearly in my exported PNG files. To add to this pr...

Re: Invinzible strokes- better cell shading workflow

toonboom is not open source- so i have to boot to windows to use it. Plus it much less powerful than inkscape in terms of graphic effects. Pencil2d is not designed to be used as a cut out animation app. It's vector tools need work to be usable. I think i mentioned in the first post that is a bit rou...

Re: Invinzible strokes- better cell shading workflow

my proposal has nothing to do with bitmap editing, so I dont understand your remark about merging gimp with inkscape. In fact I am saying that inkscape's bucket tool has a bitmap nature- with all of the flaws that come with it! It uses visible pixels to determine how to make a fill !! Both in pencil...

Re: Invinzible strokes- better cell shading workflow

I am really glad that we are finally having a proper discussion about it! Ideally a "slice" tool would allow the user to split multiple fills, lines or both with a single stroke operation. If I could adjust the smoothing of that split- similar to how the pencil stroke tool works- that woul...

Re: Invinzible strokes- better cell shading workflow

that seems odd. It is not an SVG format feature request. More like a tool request to manipulate objects. Do you really need to touch the format specification in order to allow the user to split fills and lines into two halves? :) What kind of new information do you need to store inside an svg file i...

Re: Invinzible strokes- better cell shading workflow

Hi and sorry for the double post. I only want to add to my initial post idea. This should definitely be made as a "slice" eraser tool mode. And it can operate on all selected objects or all objects in general. To add to the reasons we need it!!! It is not only for cell shading! This will b...

Re: Invinzible strokes- better cell shading workflow

potentially if the division operator could have multiple 0 width strokes cut through one shape, that would be enough.
Now you have to select each one individually and apply.
Also - even at 0 width, the strokes leave a gap between the two cell tones

Invincible strokes/vector bucket- better cell shading tools

1. Invinzible strokes This is a feature that toonboom studio has and also Pencil2d has. The idea of invinsible strokes is that they are there to allow you to divide a fill into shades. These strokes do not render. And they dont greate a gap between fills. http://i.imgur.com/ZDiuStU.jpg Possible impl...

disabling the mid click zooms

I love inkscape to bits but some things in it annoy the hell out of me. One such thing is the single middle click zooming. I middle click and drag to pan and that is very useful when you draw with a tablet where the middle click is one of the stylus buttons. Having the middle click also zoom in by i...

Re: split stroke objects where they cross with other strokes

this is an interesting method. Why do you go through all this blurring and then dynamic offset process? I found that with more complicated unified fills, dynamic offset tends to freak out/crash inkscape. So I altogether avoid using it on a bigger scale. How about something like path>exclusion then P...

a script to execute series of commands

Hi, I was wondering if there is a tutorial somewhere out there to help me write a scipt (extension) that automates the execution of a series of commands within inkscape. For example, when colouring with the :tool_paintbucket: -I need to use it multiple times to fill an area properly. And yes, I know...

split stroke objects where they cross with other strokes

Essentially I was wondering if this is possible with the current tools in inkscape. When I use the :tool_calligraphic: to ink stuff I have one of the two problems. Note that they are evident when I get to the :tool_paintbucket: 1.A stroke doesnt reach the other stroke to close the shape- I end up wi...
