In closed segments, the "outward" control points are the control points for the implicit closing segment.

Re: Problem with router firewall -- DNS misconfiguration??

Not sure any of these problems is ISP related if you can fix them by disabling the local firewall, unless of course your router is specific to the ISP (aka "box" is some parts of Europe), but then you can ask the ISP support.

Re: Changing Text Values for Multiple Text Objects

Resurrecting an old thread because I have the same issue, however I cannot use a text editor to replace/all text. >Why so? Maybe your text editor (Notepad?) doesn't support Kanji characters, but there are (free) others that do (Notepad++, for Windows, AFAIK: http://notepad-plus-plus.org/). The rest...

Re: Can we buy Inkscape features or bug fixes

From the Inkscape site itself: What License is Inkscape released under? GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE Version 2, June 1991 [2]. In short, this means you are free to use and distribute Inkscape for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial, without any restrictions. You are also free to modify the progr...

Re: Extension to break apart paths into non-overlapping subp

You are of course correct that a true test of "non-overlapping" might be quite difficult. But for my purposes, a very simple idea of non-overlapping would be sufficient. As my example of the letters in a line of text indicates, checking the horizontal coordinates of the bounding box would...

Re: The problem of importing eps files with Arabic font

There aren't arabic but greek (alpha and beta)... Looks like a character encoding bug... or characters that do not exist in the font used. You can edit the SVG saved by Inkscape (ideally using an UTF-8 capable editor) and search for the corresponding <tspan>. You can replace the characters by pastin...

Re: Exporting grid of images from Inkscape document

I wouldn't be using Inkscape for this. I would generate the big image at the various zoom levels (manually or with an Inkscape script if there are too many), and then split the PNG in tiles (with ImageMagick: http://imagemagick.org/Usage/crop/#crop_tile ).

Re: SVG image file problem in Epubchecker

Hi - hope I am in the right forum for this one. I have created an Epub which has approx 200 images mostly svg but some gif and jpg. I have run finished Epub file through Epubchecker and every single svg.image has the same variety of complaints which I reckon have all got to do with aspects of the u...

Re: multi-color screen printing

Thanks, ofnuts. So, you think they don't really get the technical distinction between raster and vector? I'm still hoping to hear from someone who uses inkscape with screen printing. I know some of the online T printing places will take .svg files. They just don't know about SVG... PS is (proprieta...

In the print word "vector" is Postscript or whatever Illustrator produces.

Re: computer upgrade advice - inkscape user

You seem to have fairly generic requirements. $1000 on just the main unit is already plenty of money. The current trend in graphics software is to use the graphics card GPU to improve performance. Some graphics cards are better supported than others, but this may depend on the software you use (this...

How are you getting the PNG file? You probably should use File menu > Export Bitmap (not Save As Cairo png). If that's what you already did, we may need to look at the SVG file.

Let us know if that helps :D

Hi,

For my information, what is the difference?

Re: beginner programming?

AFAIK Inkscape scripts are written in Python. And once you get over Python's pickyness over source code indentation (using the appopiate code editors will help), it is one of the best programming langage around for beginners, because you don't need to know much to write your first useful piece of co...

Hi there

Hi... After a couple of years becoming proficient with Gimp, I found one of its features I use the most is the vector editor (I even wrote several scripts to do fancy stuff with paths), and so I eventually found my way to Inkscape, and since participating in forums has always been the best way to le...
