Re: How do I open/save this filetype?
Looks like this person above is copying an older post (first page) and inserting some questionable links like they did on my thread. Thanks for the heads-up on my thread Rastian.

Re: Issue with saving file as dxf
Nice! I'm afraid to ask how quickly you did this cuz I would probably just quit, lol. The few things I did reconstruct were the circles. Here's what I did for the crown: 1. Used :tool_pen: and "traced" half of the image 2. Re-created all round objects. 3. For the triangles around the sun-l...

Re: Issue with saving file as dxf
Thanks Lazur. Good to know! So a couple of questions about this. On the letter L, I did the outer lines first. I decided to use "inset" but did not get the results I wanted. I ended up duplicating it and manually shrink it and fumble with the each node. Is there an easier way for this? Sec...

Re: Issue with saving file as dxf
Wow, that's a lot of colors! I would have to re-mask a lot for that image, I'll def keep that in the mind though. Anyway, started my very first project! I'm working on a professional hockey team's logo (basically tracing it manually with the Bezier tool) to put it on a disc for a friend. Is it ok to...

Re: Issue with saving file as dxf
Hi guys, just wanted to show what I did with the "swirl".

Cut with a Cameo using vinyl. Placed on a Frisbee and dipped in red dye. Please feel free to show-off any cool looking patterns you have so I can put it on another one.

Re: Issue with saving file as dxf
Awesome! I thought it was just me. Thanks for verifying that ragstian! Off topic: Can you cut the "hearts" from here; Bumper_Sticker - and post in my PM box? <-- Not sure what you mean. Cut it on vinyl and take a pic and send you it through PM? Let me know. Will be happy to do it for all y...

Can you draw a circle - save as SVG then as DXF and post them here?
I don't see any "newbie" errors in what you are doing.

Re: Issue with saving file as dxf
well....after typing out my steps and looking at step number 5, I decided NOT to choose any of the boxes at all to see what happens. And voila! No bumps! {insert smiley slapping forehead here} It never dawned on me to try that. So I did the same thing for the first image I posted and it worked for t...

Re: Issue with saving file as dxf
druban, I'm not sure if the bottom part is the info bar but it says "Path(13 nodes) in layer Layer_1 ". I tried to converting it to a path per your instructions and it does the same thing. ragstian, I've opened it my Silhouette Studios program and shows the same thing. My process: 1. Open ...

Re: Issue with saving file as dxf
Here a screenshot of a circle I created from the toolbox in Inkscape (notice the right side). Saved as a dxf, then re-opened in Inkscape.

And a zoom shot of the little bump:

Re: Issue with saving file as dxf
Hi Ragstain, No problem, I was actually enjoying reading all the posts/images as well. I'll post a sample of what I'm seeing when I get a chance. It's basically 2 little bumps on each side of the circle, kinda like if I made a perfect circle with a yarn and I push it out a little bit (bump). Hard to...

Re: Issue with saving file as dxf
Oh my, what did I start? :P Anyway, just couldn't get Inkscape to print to my Cameo after countless hours of trying. I broke down and bought the license key for the Designer Edition so I can work with SVGs on my Silhouette program. Also, I think this question got lost in the mix: How is a circle tha...

Re: Issue with saving file as dxf
You guys are amazing! I really wish I could take advantage of all your talents right now. I hope I can get my Inkscape program to cut to my Cameo. Lazur, when you mentioned a "blender", is that a feature in Inkscape to create this image?

That was completely my fault for not posting completely. Thanks for link! I will still go through your steps once I am able to use my Cameo correctly. I definitely want to learn more about inkscape after seeing what you did and all the cool images I've seen on this site so far. I truly appreciate th...

Re: Issue with saving file as dxf
brynn and Ragnar, thank you for the replies. I did notice that Trace Bitmap was not perfect and I had to tweak the image a little bit more after doing so. Ragnar, wow, I'm totally amazed at your "hurried scratch" work, lol! Here's a bit more info that I should've put down on my first post....

Here is an example of an image I'm trying to cut: http://i.imgur.com/jAYhxT2.png And this is a screenshot of what I'm getting when I save it as a dxf file. http://i.imgur.com/513gRUt.png My process: I take a bmp or a jpg image and use Trace Bitmap. I then use "brightness cutoff" to remove ...

Issue with saving file as dxf
Hello, here's a noob question for you gurus. When I save a file that I've just "traced" or created from scratch into a .dxf file, the image gets distorted when I re-open it on Inkscape. I saw a post back in May 2012 but some of the lingo is over my head. -->http://www.inkscapeforum.com/vie...
