Ohh... In this case trace tool will be much more useful, but I can't tell you which stettings will give you the best results. This looks like some serious work, I'm a big fan of Inkscape , but wouldn't software like ACD Canvas with GIS extension suit better for such purposes? i am a fan of Inkscape...
