Align Stroke to Inside/Outside
Does anyone know if Illustrator's 'Align Stroke' feature is being worked on for Inkscape?
What are other ways of making a 1px line go along the outside of a shape that can then be separated from the shape it came from? It needs to be 1px wide precisely.
Thanks again all!

Re: Some colour combinations cannot be set!?
The reason the CMYK colour values are different is Inkscape still doesn't fully support CMYK - there are ways to make Inkscape work for print by using scribus though. I'm not an expert on this program, perhaps someone can explain better if you're interested?

Re: Copy one part of an image and paste over another part
If these 2 images are jpgs/gifs/pngs or any other pixel image format, you may want to try an image editor, not a vector graphics program like Inkscape. The GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) is the preferred free image editor, millions of people use it - http://www.gimp.org Or are the two images ...

Re: Some colour combinations cannot be set!?
Inkscape uses the web standard SVG format, so it's not ideal for CMYK. Can you use an RGB colour value instead? Is this needed for print?

Re: Making curves using a group of strokes?
Thanks llogg, I'm about to give that a try now. Quick question for everyone while I'm here, how do I stop these dotted lines appearing at the ends of my stroke: http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w73/purepics/lines.jpg I know it's to show the thickness of the stroke, but I've got my strokes ending a...

Re: SHAPING TEXT
Hi NEOINKMAN2,
All you need to do is draw a path using a tool like Bezier Curve in the shape that you want the text to follow. Then put the text over that path (resize accordingly) and select both text and path. Click Text > Put on Path
If you need any further help let us know.

Re: Making curves using a group of strokes?
Thanks for your thoughts Kjohrf.
I'll look a bit further into 'Pattern along Paths'. From what I read this morning it only supports one object, I have 6. But the tutorial I read that from may have been based on an old version of inkscape.
If anyone else has any ideas please also let me know!

Making curves using a group of strokes?
Hi all, The title may be a little confusing - I have no idea how to achieve this... I have 6 strokes forming this texture: http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w73/purepics/a2.jpg Four 1pixel wide white lines with a black and grey stroke underneath - Each stroke going top to bottom. I'd like to make c...

Really nice work RM, are you drawing over an existing photo of someone wearing a suit?
The face is particularly special because it's 100% Inkscape, and faces are the most difficult to fake!

Re: This is Amazing!
I like your illustration Michael.
I think Inkscape is amazing too, and I also use many opensource programs at home, all of which I'm very pleased with. Inkscape, GIMP and Blender are the ones I use the most, and all 3 have a very helpful community.
Have fun using Inkscape!

Re: Font replacing when font is available (windows)
Sounds like a compatibility issue between Illustrator and Inkscape or the fonts themselves. I use Illustrator CS3, and when opening files in Inkscape some things do change - It's not Inkscape, it's Adobe not following rules.
You might need to outline your fonts before opening the file in Inkscape.

Re: Micrsoft Word
Select the text you want in Word and copy it (Ctrl C). In inkscape click on the big 'A' in the toolbox and click anywhere on the artboard, then paste (Ctrl F). If you want a different font to the one showing in Inkscape just go Text>Text and Fonts... and choose what you want.

Re: trouble opening inkscape
JaapB are you joan? If you're not this may get confusing since Joan is on XP and you're on Leopard...
Anyway JaapB try downloading the '0.47pre3' version of Inkscape from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/inkscape/files/
I think some bugs with Leopard were fixed in that version.

Hi Jazmin. A few questions:
Was the AI file created in Inkscape?
What version of Inkscape are you using?
What operating system?

If they still haven't printed out your cards please email them your master svg or ai file and they will print out a vector image of the map for you. Printers prefer vector images to any sort of compressed bitmap image.

Re: Hiding everything outside document boundaries
tuisu I use the same 'huge rectangle with hole' technique as you do in both Inkscape and Illustrator. I agree with you it would be a good feature especially for those who use the space outside document boundaries to store unused pieces.
