Oops, operator error. :oops: It looks like the problem is the way I downloaded the svg files. I used a download manager and gave it the url and it downloaded all of the .svg files. But what it downloaded was not the actual .svg file. When I went to the download page of each icon, and downloaded the ...

Can't import/open Tango SVG files

I am using InkScape 0.48.4 and I can't open SVG files. In particular the Tango icons found at "http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tango_icons" are all SVG files that Inkscape can't open. When I try and open the file I get the dialog message: "Failed to load the requested file ...."...

Moving a gradient filled object loses its gradient fill

I'm new to Inkscape so maybe I'm missing something. (I'm an old Corel Draw user) If I fill a rectangle with a gradient (with Fill & Stroke panel or Gradient tool), it looks fine.
