1) Keeping Colors Light & Bright; 2) Sharpening Images
I have created colorful images in Inkscape. In order to keep the images light and bright when printed (and included in a DVD), are filters the best way to go? Specifically, “Fluorescence” and/or “Lightness-Contrast”? I was also told, too, to lessen the DPI to 150 vs. 300 related to the DVD -- this w...

Re: Inkscape & Encapsulated Post Script Question: ASAP!
Hi there and thank you for responding to my inquiry! The big reason my friend wants me to get away from vector is because without bitmaps, there are no jaggies. Do you agree? He also cited these other reasons: 1) Faster (rendering a 600 dpi full sized page takes about 7 seconds on my machine; saving...

Inkscape & Encapsulated Post Script Question: ASAP!
I am trying to upload text/images to Lulu.com, a self-publishing site, to print a children's book. A friend of mine (who is on vacation for 2 weeks and is unavailable) suggested (before he left on vacation) that I save the text/images as .EPS in order to avoid bitmaps altogether for the following re...

Re: Converting to PDF & Transparency Issue (Need Answer ASAP!)
Hi Brynn, Yes, I have been exporting the images thru Export Bitmap vs. Cairo PNG. Thank you for offering that I upload the image, however, that won't be necessary now because the customer service guy at Lulu suggested the same thing today. And guess what? I uploaded the following image path: SVG > P...

Re: Converting to PDF & Transparency Issue (Need Answer ASAP!)
Brynn, One other thing. In your previous posting, you said, "But you should not need to convert SVG to PNG to JPG to PDF. You should be able to do SVG to PNG to PDF, or SVG to JPG to PDF, although I've only begun to learn about making PDFs". Converting from SVG to PNG to PDF works (everyth...

Re: Converting to PDF & Transparency Issue (Need Answer ASAP!)
Hi Brynn, Thank you for responding to ALL my questions and thoroughly -- very helpful! I also read up on the link you sent me and Scribus "may" be another route for me to go. I wasn't aware of that program (I'll check it out!). I have a feeling that one of the two ways I described previous...

Re: Converting to PDF & Transparency Issue (Need Answer ASAP!)
Hi Brynn, THANK YOU so much for responding quickly. Yes, I'm getting the image I want (the sun is opaque which is what I want), but I was very concerned about the warning (especially because this is the first time I've gone through this process and I'm not absolute as to what's normal). I have addit...

Converting to PDF & Transparency Issue (Need Answer ASAP!)
Hi there, I am trying to convert SVG illustrations (with text embedded) into a PDF in order to upload to Lulu.com as an e-book. I was told by Lulu.com to convert the SVG image/text into a JPEG and then convert to PDF (ensuring that the font is embedded). Every time I attempt to go through the proces...

How to Flatten Layers Before Converting to a PDF
Hi microUgly/everyone else,
In Inkscape, how does one flatten all layers before converting to a PDF?
Thank you in advance!

Re: Inkscape & Creating Multimedia Projects
Yes, I have a copy of Moviemaker - - it came with my Compaq laptop. I imported the text/images to Moviemaker as PNG's with a WHITE background and they look great! The next test will be uploading this up to "You Tube" as well as onto a DVD to see if it all translates correctly. I'm keeping ...

Re: Inkscape & Creating Multimedia Projects
Hi MicroUgly! THANK YOU so much for responding. 1) In what sense? You can't take anything direct from Inkscape to YouTube, since Inkscape doesn't make videos. Oops! I left out a detail or two. I'm intending on uploading a children's book (text/illustrations are all in the same Inkscape image) to Lul...

Inkscape & Creating Multimedia Projects
Hi everyone, 1)What is the best format for Inkscape illustrations/text to be viewed via “You Tube”? 2)What is the best format for Inkscape illustrations/text to be viewed via a DVD? 3)Which movie or slide show program works best with Inkscape illustrations/text (i.e., keeps the original colors, clar...
