3D printing using the OpenSCAD cookie cutter add-on
I just had my first 3D print experience thanks to the OpenSCAD cookie cutter add-on by Alexander Pruss. I did the simple outline in Inkscape then saved it as an OpenSCAD file. I checked the file in OpenSCAD, exported it to a .stl file and sent it to my local library Creative Lab to be printed. It to...

Re: Is it a bug or intended to be that way?
Thanks brynn. I didn't think it was a bug either so thanks for confirming. I work with type a lot in Inkscape so it looks like I'm going to keep working with version 0.48.

Is it a bug or intended to be that way?
I was thinking about reporting a possible bug having to do with a font not showing all of the weights in Inkscape 0.92 like it does in Inkscape 0.48. But then it may not be a bug after all. When I want to use the Roboto font in Inkscape 0.48 I can choose Roboto Ultra-Light but that font weight doesn...

Using Inkscape professionally
I would like to try asking this again. I am curious to know if anyone uses Inkscape to earn a living. Most of the graphics related jobs I find listed want designers who are experienced in other popular illustration software. So is there anyone out there who uses Inkscape in a professional capacity? ...

Earning a living using Inkscape
Does anyone earn a living using Inkscape?
Every graphic design position I have come across in the last two months requires one to be proficient with Adobe Illustrator as well as Photoshop and InDesign.
I have experience using Inkscape and have liked it ever since I found it.

Changing the default template, Ubuntu Natty Narwhal
I am trying to get Inkscape setup on Natty Narwhal and am not having a very successful time do so. Could someone help me out or at least lead me to where I can find information? I don't work with Ubuntu much but want to start working more with it. The only place I have found where the Inkscape templ...

Inkscape and Processing
Here is a study illustration I drew up that is being used in a Processing sketch. The illustration was done completely in Inkscape 0.48 using the Calligraph Tool with the Trace setting enabled. I drew background shapes using linear and radial gradients in grays and used those to get my ink sketchy l...

I created this over a year ago just for fun. And to see what I could do while trying out tools and learning Inkscape.

Re: For my Arduino/Processing project
brynn, Thank you for the kinds words. Thanks for posting the link to the stretched out spiral. I have played around with spirals but not like that. I'm thinking now instead of making a wire ring instead of a string which may be more appropriate. We have some bunches of keys that have some of those w...

For my Arduino/Processing project
http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/8244/tempdisplaytag02.png Uploaded with ImageShack.us I'm working on an Arduino/Processing project that will read and display temperature so I thought it would be fun to use one of those paper key ring labels with a metal rim. I won't use the text on the actual im...

Re: Wacom tablet
Thanks for the reply. It sounds like it will work. I read a review from someone who purchased a refurbished one via Amazon and he said it worked with GIMP also. How do you like the Wacom Bamboo pen?

Wacom tablet
This concerns in particular to the Wacom Bamboo tablet. I have not used one of these before but I am wondering if this tablet will work with Inkscape and even GIMP for that matter. I'm on a Windows 7 machine. I know it will work on Window 7 but usually Photoshop is mentioned and nothing else. Is the...

Thanks for the tips and link. This will be a good start. I saw another portrait that someone did that was also exceptionally well done and now I can't remember where I found it on the web. Anyway it will be interesting to see what you do next.

Just to see how you did some of this. Even after working with Inkscape for over a year I still consider myself a novice and am just starting to learn a little bit about filters.

Right on!! This is one of the best portrait/human piece I think I have seen so far being done with an app like this. There is only one thing left. When does the tutorial come out?

Editing Spiro path can't see path move.
I'm not sure if this is a bug or not so I wanted to find out if anyone else experiences this and just maybe I'm not seeing a setting that needs to be turned on. When I draw a Spiro path and then try and edit it and when I grab a node and move it by clicking and dragging I don't see the path move lik...

How do I get and install the latest 0.47 dev build?
The bottom part of the Inkscape window is being cut off in 0.46 on my Ubuntu machine. When I maximize the window then all I can do is click inside the window and watch as the window jumps up or down to reveal the bottom part of the screen or hide it again and I can't select tools and do much of anyt...

Re: How to install dev build on ubuntu?
The deb package looks like it is installed but it doesn't show up in the Graphics Applications menu. I assume that the reason is becuause I it wasn't installed using the Add/Remove dialog. So if it is in fact really installed I am thinking I will have to get it going using the Terminal. I'm still no...

heathenx, I just tried to download and install the deb package of SVN19980 you put together. It downloaded fine and looks like it installed. At least the dialog said it was installed successfully but when I try and launch it nothing happens. I can see that is is attempting to launch because it shows...

Re: What gives with the rest of my document window?
I think this has been fixed in the dev version. I'm not sure if there's an autopackage of the 0.47pre1, I think not. There are instructions on how to compile dev versions on ubuntu somewhere on this forum. You enter a few commands into terminal and then wait for an hour for it to compile. Then you ...
