Re: Fusing hand drawn lines

In "document properties" window you can check "snap to objects" checkbox - play around it, it's quite usefull option.

Re: Boardgame board

It seems Inkscape is very popular in Poland :-) Great!
We try to make a team to create 100% Polish localisation. I hope it will be soon.

I guess you want "shadows"... Try this technique
Just add darker pieces and blur them. Effect is really good.

Re: Creating Hairs

I tried and I think you should add:
6. Ctrl+L to delete needless nodes

It's essential because without this point you'll get mess instead of hair pattern after Effects->Pattern along path.

Re: metallic effect or gradients?

I just checked - new Windows build (9.09.2007) allows drag and drop *.ggr files into Inkscape document, gradients are then on the list an you can select them.
BTW this version allows editing gradient on canvas - great feature! I wait impatiently for next stable version...

Re: Symbol fonts without a Unicode map

I got the same problem. I have a CD containing 10000 fonts, collected a few years ago and I couldn't use them in Inkscape. Now I know why... :-( To import text into Inkscape I wrote it in OpenOffice Draw, using selected font. Then I exported document to PDF and imported PDF into Inkscape. It is reco...

Clip! Of course! You resolved one of my problems.
I made some decorative initials, using rather cut, but I got outline around cutted parts of letters. Clip is right solution. Thanks.

Re: HELP! Fill an object with color

It seems quiet simple - select object and click color on the palette. Shift+Click changes color fo outline. Or press Ctrl+Shift+F (like "fill"). It opens a dialog. First tab - inner space color. Second one - outline color. Independent. Third tab - outline style. To fill object you can also...

Re: Textures and Snapping

Short question - short answer :-) How can I apply textures to a shape? This is kind of a necessity for me. Create a texture - import an bitmap or create your own texture using Inkscape, then Object -> Pattern -> Object to pattern. Create Shape, Ctrl+F -> Patterns -> choose your (it should be selecte...

I downloaded latest build and I found a few interesting new functions and scripts. But when I tried them Inkscape gave me just message "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error" and disappeared. I suppose It needs some additional libraries for runtime. Do you know what version of C++ libraries i...

Re: Smart guides in Inkscape?

I thought about this a few days ago. And I resolve problem this way: - create a layer named "guides" and move it to the bottom - draw anything you want (for example lines starting from one point for perspective) - set color of objects to something light (I usually use light blue) - set sna...
