Re: Preserving Pixelation (for pixel art in vector art)?
A larger raster image does help. -Resized the original with gimp to 45 px / 45 px, with no interpolation set.- Great, that does it! Thanks :) For the record: as I also wanted to do this by command line, I found this to work, using potrace: Install Imagemagick and potrace . Then on CLI do (for an im...

Re: Preserving Pixelation (for pixel art in vector art)?
I'm having a similar problem but can't get it right. I want the left image (a 15x15px bmp I imported into inkscape) to be vectorized without any smoothing at all. The vector image needs to look identical to the original. In the trace bitmap dialog it looks perfect (I use brightness cutoff 0.650), bu...

This has been incorporated in the 0.92 release of Inkscape: 0.92 release notes, mirror symmetry.

So here's another one, different style altogether. I love clean, flowing curves. Called it "Smart kiss". This one got to be a staff pick on Tumblr and yours truly was very surprised to get 1400+ likes/reblogs out of nowhere :D People love kisses ;) http://40.media.tumblr.com/4618b18e9d7896...

Bartovan's vectors
So I've been regularly using Inkscape for a couple of years now and making a lot of stuff with it, so I thought it might be a good idea to share some of it here, and also follow a bit more the work of you guys here. I'm not an Inkscape wizard at all, but the program just fits me remarkably, I just l...

I wonder if it helps to click "This affects me" in the bug report. I always do, hoping that it will gain some importance... Would love syntax highlighting too.

Re: double-clicking to add node problems
I sometimes seem to have the same problem (that double-click with node-tool doesn't add node), so I usually use Alt+Ctrl+leftclick, that always seems to work.

Box-select them all, then transform (Shift+Ctrl+M) also works AFAIK.

Re: Skew deforms axes of circular gradient
Thanks to ~suv clarifications on the bug report ( #1520341 ): - circular gradient being skewed with object is not a bug (and can be avoided by Lazur's workaround mentioned above) - axes' angle changing upon transform probably is to be considered a bug. Bug report title and description edited accordi...

Re: Skew deforms axes of circular gradient
OK. But I don't think this behaviour can be intentional or desired, as the angle between the gradient axes changes in an unusable way. It could be intentional or desirable if the angle between the gradient axes would keep matching the skew angle (angle between sides of skewed rectangle) when you man...

Re: Skew deforms axes of circular gradient
It does make the circular gradient unusable. Try to tweak a circular gradient in a skewed rectangle, you'll quickly see it's unusable.

Re: Skew deforms axes of circular gradient
I had a try searching for "skew gradient" but nothing showed up. I'll make a bug report, now that I have the animated GIF.

Re: Skew deforms axes of circular gradient
Here's what I mean with the gradient axes angle changing (it's an animated gif, hope it displays well). I made a rectangle, skewed it, added circular gradient, then dragged the gradient axes' endpoints away. Pay attention in the last steps to the angle between the axes of the gradient, it becomes sm...

Skew deforms axes of circular gradient
Make a rectangle, skew it, change the fill to circular gradient -> the gradient axes are "skewed" also (angle no longer 90°). This might be interesting (it makes a kind of "perspective" gradient), although not always desired. But when the axes' endpoints are then moved (stretched...

Re: few questions (drop shadow layer, adjustments layers)
It's how it works in Krita and Synfig. A "transform layer" (eg. blur) has effect on all layers below it in the stack, basically. (See eg. http://wiki.synfig.org/Rotate_Layer)

Re: few questions (drop shadow layer, adjustments layers)
The kind of manipulative layers the OP talks about exist in Krita (an open source combined raster and vector drawing program) and in Synfig Studio (open source vector animation, steep learning curve). They are interesting, but as Inkscape is trying to follow as closely as possible the SVG standards,...

Re: select objects with same color
There's also Edit -> Select same.
You can select an object, then do Edit -> Select Same -> Fill Color.
This only works for objects having exactly the same color of course.

Re: Convert text pattern to path [SOLVED]
OK, got it. For those interested, here's how I fixed it: - select an object that had the pattern and duplicate it - move the duplicate to an empty space on the canvas, just to avoid confusion - do Pattern to Object -> the object (text) appeared on canvas - transform this new object (text) to paths (...

Re: Convert text pattern to path
I'll give that a try in a few hours when I'm before the right pc, but the problem I have is that I can't select the pattern. I only have objects with the pattern as fill, and the xml description in the "dev" section. I suppose I deleted the original pattern (can't remember). So how do I se...

Re: I want to install InkScape as cleanly as possible
Normally, the portable app would be the "cleanest" install, I think, meaning that all related files will be confined to 1 directory of your choice. To "uninstall", you would simply need to remove the directory. See Portable apps support : Delete the AppNamePortable folder to comp...
