Re: Enable curve path
Not really what I am talking about, once the vector is drawn. I want to click the (straight) path and drag it to generate a curve. Anyway it seems I no longer need to press SHIFT for 'grabbing' the path and now is done automatically. And wasn't actually with the pen tool but with the Node tool :tool...

[Solved] Inkscape PNG export with without background
I've been trying to export this PNG image but it ends up looking with a white background, am I doing something wrong?
Is there a preference I need to deactivate. I am positive there is no backgroun object on the SVG.

Re: Macros or toolbar hacking.
Basically I want to have that option on my toolbar. I use it a lot when I need to get ready to save svgs that are not conformant with the sizes of the canvas. Is a bit unnecesary to go File > Document Properties > Resize page to drawing or selection. Would be nice to have that option always availabl...

Macros or toolbar hacking.
I would like to have the "Resize to image" function on my toolbar. Is there a way to programatically have this functionality available?
Regards.

Re: Techniques to generate highlights and shades on skin
Well actually I am not very good in drawing (on regular paper) but I found I am pretty good on vectorial drawing. Specially because I do it in touchpad, if you know about digital artists, you know is hard to 'draw' on a touchpad. Need at least a mouse if not a pen. But vecotrial is totally different...

Re: Techniques to generate highlights and shades on skin
Seems pretty odd, that using the 'img' tag is such a taboo in an image-driven forum. However I don't think i should delete my question or censor my question because I put some examples. Nevertheless, I will switch from img to url so it whoever wants to see the images they could click on it.

Re: Techniques to generate highlights and shades on skin
Now, with such image, if you really want to get the flow, why not you try to retrace it, from the left to the right? The line art is fine, the base coloring is fine as well, but for example how you generate those shades? why that shape, how big should the shade be? shadow.png In that singled out ex...

Well I don't want to be rude either, but the question on that post was addressed to Sven, so I'll let Sven decide the faith of my post. And yes, if you read my post I added examples of what I have done, and what I want to create. I did some specific questions on the use of shading and highlighting o...

Re: Techniques to generate highlights and shades on skin
As fas as I know cellshading doesnt need a black lineart. Here is a google example when looking for cell shading. http://myfeldin.com/pics/jetGrind.jpg Only the outline has a dark outline, but the interior for shirt and shadows dont need such lineart. But you ar right, it doesn't use gradients. Yaho...

I am having issues trying to learn techniques on cell shading . Re: Modify Inkscape source code
You might want more of a CADing application. There are many electrical-design applications in FLOSS world. An alternative of course is download the library from OpenClipArt where you can find many png/svg elements to work with. DIA: https://wiki.gnome.org/Dia Kivio/Flow: http://www.calligra-suite.or...

Re: Very slow development - why?
this is usually done because of QA, many bugs that cause the new version to be delayed. Having a fix date will expose users to critical bugs that will generate a lot of frustration.
i would however look for release cycles and targets.

yes look on the wiki for extension module. Is basically 3 things: - Zip - XML - Python - Libraries. Zip is needed for the packages, XML for the GUI definition, Python for the business logic. http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Extensions.html http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Extensio...

I am trying to make a calendar on SVG, where the graphic display the remaining days to an event. I have a sample on how to insert the JS into an SVG, however when I try to port the code to a better designed SVG I get a blank result. I use getElementID("<tag">).appendNode(daysleft); I put t...

Re: Inkscape & GIMP integration?
Scribus doesn't read XCF and doesn't have to. For multilayer images we already have TIFF (supported by Scribus, including clipping paths) and OpenRaster (sadly, not supported by Scribus and Inkscape yet). Inkscape can export XCF with layers. Let me know if you want more information on anything. Thi...

Re: Inkscape & GIMP integration?
Why do you want the raster to be converted to vector ? IMO It should be (at least) optionnal coz I prefer them to be exported as image that I can (or not) rasterize later. I want vector to convert to PATHS . This is what Gimp does when you insert a vector image like SVG or AI. http://planetopenoffi...
