Re: Inkscape and Corel Draw 12
Corel Draw and Inkscape (in the upcoming 0.46 version) can both export and import PDFs. So aside of SVG, PDF is a remarkable format for file interchange between Inkscape and Corel Draw. Of course things like SVG blur and other SVG effects aren't supported by Corel Draw, so one need to experiment a l...

Re: Creating a rubber stamp
There is a stamp in http://www.openclipart.org that I submitted a long time ago. It has been made in Inkscape 0.44.
http://openclipart.org/media/files/molumen/636
It has some more details, I'll sumbit here a mini tutorial on how I made it.

Re: Handy programs to help with Inkscape work
Well these are wonderful news! AFAIK poppler library is very powerful so that will push Inkscape forward to professional users!
Can't wait to see that fully implemented!

Sumatra PDF
Since Inkscape 0.46 will have a PDF export/import ability, I thought that the following lil' handy open source (GPLv2) PDF viewer could be useful:
http://blog.kowalczyk.info/software/sumatrapdf/
It's called Sumatra PDF (Windows only)

Re: Applying multicolors fills in an object
The second image is not difficult to create. Just draw the objects and apply a vertical gray gradient to them. For the gray shadow, you can use an undelying copy of the top object that you color in a darker shade of gray and then shift a little (a couple of pixels in the bottom right direction) so i...

Re: Applying multicolors fills in an object
Actually instead of achieving that effect with the help of a gradient, I'd recommend doing it with shapes. It is better because of one reason: portability. AFAIK when you import some graphics made in Inkscape into some other software (Illustrator, Corel, etc...) generally the only problem that happe...

I think that Synfig can work with svg but I'm not sure. The project is still evolving and AFAIK it's still very young.

Re: Season greetings card
All the tools are suitable to draw characters. You can start by drawing basic shapes (circles, rectangles etc...), then by transforming them (with the node tool) you can achieve any shape you want. The you color the character by using gradients to create some light/shadow effects or by just filling ...

Re: Season greetings card
I just drew the snowman from scratch. There is unfortunately no simple way to learn how to draw characters from scratch. You just have to keep trying an learning to draw in Inkscape. Maybe the most simple way is to find an image of a snowman (or whatever you want to draw) and draw your own character...

looks like search is not working...
When I try to search for the word "tutorial" or "Inkscape" (or any other word) I always get the same result page saying the following: "The following words in your search query were ignored: inkscape. You must specify at least one word to search for. Each word must consist o...

Re: Eraser Tool Equivalency in Inkscape
Note that an eraser tool isn't something that's traditionally a part of vector applications. Illustrator CS3 has only just introduced such a tool. Corel Draw introduced an eraser tool in 1995 (in version 6). It is a brush tool that just does the opposite of what a brush tool will do. Instead of dra...

Inkscape and Corel Draw 12
I often use Inkscape to trace stuff, and then import the resulting SVG into Corel Draw 12 for further work. Everything works great but there is a small bug in the way Corel Draw 12 sees the SVG produced by Inkscape: when you import an SVG, it is seen by Corel as a group (even if the SVG is made of o...

Kinda weird, I installed it on my XP system, and the only thing I get is a thumbnail with a white background and "Renesis v 0.6" written in... The program seems to have installed without problems, so I wonder what's the problem...

Re: Season greetings card
Yes, it was that fast because I reused a lot of graphics (the red balls in the background, the sky with the stars, the logo, everything was already existing). The only real work was on the snowman, and it took me about 15 minutes to draw it and about 5-10 more to finish the job (export the PNG, open...
