Re: Removing adjustments made to kerning

This is what I've now done and it's worked. I'm just not sure how it 'got stuck' on that previous setting as I hadn't been into the Text Preference and changed anything. Oh well, never mind.

Thank You :)

Re: Inkscape keeps running in background even though programme closed

Hi Moini - I'm not a very technical person lol. A 60 year old who stumbled upon Inkscape, decided to teach myself how to use it but every now and then it does funky things that throw me!

No, I'm not using any extensions.. thanks so much for your help

Re: Removing adjustments made to kerning

I'm using 'This tool's own style' - I've never changed this in Preferences so I don't understand why the kerning won't revert back to 0.00. If I use 'last used style' will that mean the last font I used will be the one that opens up in a new Inkscape window? I don't want that. Trying to change them ...

Removing adjustments made to kerning

A while ago I increased the space between letters. I assumed that once the file had been closed down this change would revert back to the default. But it doesn't. Grrr.. So each time I create text I have to manually reduce the spacing. How can I rectify this so that when I open a new file there is n...

Re: Inkscape keeps running in background even though programme closed

Just to say that this issue is still happening. Inkscape is still running even when I close it down - not every time but enough times to be annoying. - Caroline

Why does the image size change when saving

When I come to export an image, the size of the image in the 'Export PNG Image' dialogue box is different than the size of the image created. See the example here - https://www.dropbox.com/s/e17jbo3t7o8m0m4/Inkscape%20Q.PNG?dl=0 The dpi is still 90dpi so it isn't that, and I have been exporting imag...

Re: Downloading previous Versions

Sorry folks - notifications on the thread seem to have gone haywire this end. Brynn - I didn't realise that there were 2 places on the Doc Properties you had to change. I think that's a bit confusing. Will do this on a new doc template and report back. For clarity - I want to be able to work in Pixe...

Re: Downloading previous Versions

Doh! Thanks Brynn. I thought I'd had a good rummage around on the site. I created a template - loads of threads on here on how to do it and I saved it into: appdata\inkscape\templates\default.svg. I got rid of the page border, changed a snapping option and changed the unit measurement from mm to pix...

Downloading previous Versions

I've had several issues with Vers .92 and now I'm wanting to revert back to a previous version. I've tried saving a template (and eventually found out where to put the template. Why do Windows hide files!!) Part of it saved but the most annoying part - saving the measurement to Pixel and not mm - di...

Re: Inkscape keeps running in background even though programme closed

Here is the link to my query on LunchPad -

https://answers.launchpad.net/inkscape/+question/644365

And Moini - no, I don't usually use extensions. I may have played around with a couple of Filters this time, but when I close the file down surely the programme closes down as well?

Re: Inkscape keeps running in background even though programme closed

Thanks Brynn for your very speedy response. Inkscape is showing in the Process (Background) Tab I use Inkscape with a mouse and not a graphics tablet. Quite sure there are no Inkscape files open. And no, I've not been working with large files... And yes, when I stop the process in the Task Manager, ...

Inkscape keeps running in background even though programme closed

Several times now when I have closed down Inkscape the programme still keeps running in the background. There is no obvious evidence of this on the desktop however the laptop sounds as though it's working hard. On investigating the Task Manager I find that Inkscape is still running and using up load...

Q about Setting a default for the page border

Apologies if this has been asked before but I'm unable to find the answer..

Is it possible to permanently get rid of the page border?

I'm able to go to Doc Properties and untick the page border but wonder if it's possible to set this as a default somehow.

Thanks.

Just to let you know Brynn.

I'm not seeing a small down arrow below the normal minimise buttons - I'm looking at the Fill and Stroke Dialogue..

Re: I think there's a wee Bug in 0.92 Version..

Okay gentlemen - thanks for your input here. Let me clarify what I mean: 1. My original posting with images: Having toggled the Save & Restore dialogue status. The 2 dialogue boxes that opened - Paths Effects & Layers - are not Dialogue Boxes that I have used. This is what confused me as I w...

Re: I think there's a wee Bug in 0.92 Version..

Hmm Moini - thanks for the link but it's double dutch to me - lol

If it's recently been fixed do I need to delete my copy of Inkscape, download another one from the inkscape.org site and the issue will be resolved.

Or something else?

I'm not a technical person. At all. ;)

I think there's a wee Bug in 0.92 Version..

I was trying to understand The Dialogue Boxes in Inkscape preferences (e.g. on a floating box where you change the size and location, how to make it appear or go back to the default position). I toggled on Save and Restore option - see Screenshot 1 https://www.imageupload.co.uk/images/2017/02/27/1-I...

Using Grids

I've just discovered potentially how useful grids are  I understand that if you select an image and click on the Hastag on your keyboard then the grids appear. However for me the grids appear everywhere apart from on the image itself . So I'm obviously missing something. Here's the file of wha...

Brynn! You are a complete star and so now between the 2 of us (me, with my little bit of knowledge) and you with your boatload, have cleared up most of the questions I had. Lazur - thanks for your thoughts also. I will do some more testing but what a fantastic Forum this is. Brynn - amongst other th...
