Re: Importing text
I can manipulate this so that the times are the coordinates where I'd like to place each piece of text. What are my options for getting this text into an Inkscape drawing? Does the 'plot text from CSV' extension not do this? http://www.inkscapeforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=9212 Thanks, that's ...

Quick way to reach ends of long page
My page is roughly 500 pixels high x 50,000 pixels wide. If I'm zoomed in close enough that the page height fills the height of the screen, if I drag the horizontal scrollbar all the way to the left or the right, I end up about 50,000 pixels too far left or right of the left/right ends of the drawin...

Re: Importing text
I still don't understand how having the coordinates of the text would help. But maybe that's where the coding comes in and could be useful? I'll keep watching the comments, and maybe I'll actually learn something  I mean that I need each piece of text to be pasted into a particular place. The ...

Re: Importing text
Sorry, I thought that might be a bit hard to understand. I've got a text file with hundreds of short pieces of text in it, one per line. I want to get them into an Inkscape drawing somehow, each one as a separate text object. Pasting one by one isn't an option. I can supply coordinates for each piec...

Importing text
I need to import a lot of text from another program. They're Audacity labels - there's no chance of it having a compatible format to transfer them, so I'll have to create one. I can export them from Audacity as a list of text stings with corresponding time ranges in seconds, e.g: 98.579581 98.579581...

Re: Rectangle creation method has changed (and invisible)
I recently change the property of a rectangle so that its fill and stroke paints were "none". Is it applying this to all rectangles I create now? How do I stop that? And is there a way of selecting an invisible shape? Yes, it's taking the style of the last object created with that tool. Y...

Re: Connectors on text
For now, you could use the Pencil tool. It works the same as the Connector tool for drawing a straight line (click once to start, click once to end line). If I use the Pencil tool, and then later move the text, will the text end of the lines follow the text like the connectors do? I was thinking I ...

Re: How do I attach a connector to a large rectangle?
Or you could put the background image on a new lower layer (or the rectangle on a new upper layer). Then the background image's layer could either be hidden or locked. Locked will make it unselectable and unmovable. Hidden will do the same thing, except when you make it visible, it would still be s...

Re: How do I attach a connector to a large rectangle?
So maybe that's what's happening to you? Could you be passing over another object on your way to the Connector handle? Yes, that's it, thanks. I'm creating the rectangle over the image, so as soon as I move the cursor from the edge of the rectangle towards its connector handle, the connector handle...

Rectangle creation method has changed (and invisible)
I'm not sure what I've done, but the method of creating rectangles has changed for me. I used to click the rectangle tool, then click and drag to create a rectangle of the desired size. Now I have to just click once, and it creates a rectangle of a fixed size, which I can then change. How has this h...

Connectors on text
I'd like to connect some text descriptions to features on an image with simple line callouts. If I change the connector preferences to allow connectors to attach to text, I can do that, but the lines start from the middle of the text, rather than the edge. Is there any way to prevent that? (Incident...

Re: How do I attach a connector to a large rectangle?
No replies? No one else is working with such large images? I guess what's also unusual is that the image is only normal height, so perhaps I've confused the program.
My workaround, rather than make the rectangles small while I attach the connectors, is to zoom out till it starts working.

How do I attach a connector to a large rectangle?
First time Inkscape user today. I want to attach a connector to a rectangle, but I can't access the rectangle's handle to do this because it's too big. If I hover over the outline of the rectangle, the handle appears in the middle, but if I move the cursor towards it, it disappears. The rectangle is...
