I need to save an svg with some transparency as an EPS.
Can this be done?
I have imported GhostScript and installed it.
If I try to save as an .eps Inkscape will generate the file in the folder, say "Inkscape cannot save this as an eps" and quit. The file will be 0 kb.
The transparency is necessary.

Re: How do I open/save this filetype?
From the above link: .ai (Adobe Illustrator). Inkscape v0.46 and earlier supported export to the Adobe Illustrator version 8.0 file format which is a modified form of the EPS level 2 format. This support has been removed since Adobe Illustrator versions 10 (2001) and later can directly import SVG fi...

Re: How do I open/save this filetype?
Thank you for that clear and concise reply.
Can you recommend any open-source SVG software that saves in .ai format, or conversion tools that will allow me to convert Inkscape files to a format that Adobe Illustrator is capable of reading?

Re: How do I open/save this filetype?
Just to be certain, I uninstalled my Inkscape installation, re-downloaded the most recent installation file (0.48), and re-installed the Inkscape programming. I have cofirmed that the GhostScrpt paths are still in the right places. Following Inkscape re-installation, I still do not have a "Save...
