Re: TEXT (Put on path) upside down
I discovered it was less perfect than I thought when I found the sizes do not match each other, the size differential was way off. I went back and had a look at this nice video around 17mins in and followed from there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4JLFak3cBY Instead of making the text path for t...

Re: TEXT (Put on path) upside down
If you make the text path>object to path is there a way to place it on another path, in this case the circle and since the text is no longer a font it will perhaps bypass the bunching effect. Im watching this useful video tutorial but its a bit above my inscape capabilites. https://www.youtube.com/w...

Re: TEXT (Put on path) upside down
The difference is not as big as you think, because what 'counts' is the bottom left border of the text. And you need to take the letters' angles into account. They bend into different directions. You will need to make manual adjustments. Inkscape isn't good at guessing its user's intentions, it just...

Re: Cutting characters into slices
Have you tried using the clipping tool. Group the rectagles after making them path object>path. Do the same with the text. Place text on top, select both, object clip>set. And you can stroke after. The green was the original stroke from the rectangles.
The clipping tool is my best friend btw.

Re: TEXT (Put on path) upside down
It only works on paths, circles cannot be reversed. You'd need to do Path -> Convert to Path first. Thank you I had thought the circle was already path since the command was text on path. So that was the problem. The same is happening with different size text after reverse in that they dont match u...

Re: TEXT (Put on path) upside down
How about changing the letter distances to spread the letters a little wider, then? See text tool's tool controls. Hi second toughts by making the text sligtly bigger and placing on the bigger circle I think its does align to near perfect match. I'll be using this function a lot and the less comple...

How about changing the letter distances to spread the letters a little wider, then? See text tool's tool controls. I spaced the text (two righ arrows holding alt between each letter and word) before path. It looks the same but it still dosnt align with the top text. When I resize it makes the curve...

Re: Making a dial with radial numbers
Hello I am attempting to learn some inkscape by doing a dial counter for playing boardgames. I have gotten ok with following the standard route of watching and emulating guides on youtube however I am having trouble with making the dial number in the fashion I would like. It seems easy enough to ju...

Of the top of my head creating a shape or a template in circular fashion for each number, say a box and align each number on top of them.

Re: Text Spacing Vertically
I could have each letter of the word single then use align but because the natural font space distance varies between each letter grouping it would take a lot time manually.

Re: Text Spacing Vertically
@brynn: they want to reduce the line-height. @banjoo: change the line-height. (I tried the different vertical writing modes that Inkscape supports - look in the far right of the text tool's tool controls, where there is a dropdown arrow that allows you to change the writing direction and more - but...

Re: Text Spacing Vertically
I'm not clear what you're asking. "space text vertically while keeping the same space as with horizontally".... Do you mean that you want the word "down" in your example, so that each letter is like a stair step. Horizonal spacing the same, but each letter below the last? "...

Re: TEXT (Put on path) upside down
Option 1: Make the second circle larger, so it's going to have the same center as the one for the top word, but includes the top word completely. Option 2: Place the cursor in front of the bottom text, then hit Alt+Down Arrow until its top touches the circumference. Hi when I try the first option t...

Re: TEXT (Put on path) upside down
Do you mean that you want each letter to be upright? But still on a curved path? I'm trying to reconcile this with your other message about vertical text. Are both messages trying to achieve the same thing, in different ways? Hi kinda. The letters are up right when using the circle horizontally but...

Re: TEXT (Put on path) upside down
Can you show us an example of what it looks like when the text is not bunched? I don't understand what you're asking. Re: Filling in the gaps
Hi make a bigger object, rectangle or circle place on top to cover (path) image. When both are selected go to path>exclusion and while both are still selected path>break apart.

Hi Im trying to figure out how to space text vertically while keeping the same space as with horizontally without the need to work around the obvious ways of doing so. Using enter makes the gaps.

Re: TEXT (Put on path) upside down
Hi when I try the reverse method by clicking circle and text or just the circle or text nothing happens. When I try using horizontally it works but the text bunches. I want the text at the bottom to be curved facing upwards in the exact same way as the text at the top facing downwards so both are al...
