I've just found that if a linked offset with radius attached on something other than "text object," it's fine. I tried this 1) Create a text object. 2) Convert to path. 3) Ungroup it. 4) Combine it into a single path. 5) Create Link Offset with radius 15. 6) Reopen file. It works. So I tri...

I've got the march 12 th build and it wont open. Sounds like it might be worth you logging a bug report for this on Launchpad. Or letting the developers know on the mailing list. The earliest build in the download page (Inkscape21024-0904010548.7z) doesn't open the linked offset either. I have no archive builds earlier than in the download page.

EarlyBlake, do you have symtoms like me? (try open my attachment--test.svg above with your build)
