Re: Using the Bezier Tool
I did episode 069. I have always battled with the bezier tool in Inkscape. However the way I do things now has made things significantly easier (for me anyway). Now I simply trace or form an "approximate" shape with the bezier tool in a series of single clicks. Then, I either just click an...

Re: Grids, and making a Floor Plan
Can I create a page on a fixed number of squares? And is there an easy way to create a grid that will be set with the same numbr of squares. Custom Floor Plans I'm not sure I 100% understand what you're asking but... You could set up a grid like I described in my post above, then draw a rectangle o...

Re: Paths created by tables
You can install gnumeric (http://projects.gnome.org/gnumeric/), open your data file, and plot it into Gnumeric (which exports to SVG). A nice tutorial about it : http://screencasters.heathenx.org/episode-078/ Have a nice day. Headwar Yep Gnumeric can do that. I think you can open an .xls file in Gn...

Re: Peeling Paint
The easiest thing to do would be to import a pealing pant texture, unless you have a lot of time. I agree (though I was the one who did the screencast of the upturned page corner). ;) You can find some nice peeled paint textures at http://www.cgtextures.com and put "paint" in the search b...

Re: snapping to gridlines (and rows/columns)
I would like these to snap to the grid so they are perfectly aligned with each other. So I opened the document properties dialog, looked at all the options, set them as I thought I should, to snap to grid, selected a sensitivity, made the grid visible, and moved a square around. It did NOT snap to ...

Re: Weird Perspective Effect Behaviour
Have you watched this tutorial? Apparently your reference polygon needs to be created in a special order (in regards to the nodes). Note: This is an older tutorial, in .46 the order for selecting the target and the reference is reversed. (What you're doing now is correct) You're gonna laugh, but I ...

Weird Perspective Effect Behaviour
I'm getting some weird behaviour with a perspective. I've got a logo and text (all converted to paths and grouped) and when I draw the four node polygon, and select both objects (polygon last) and choose Modify Path -> Perspective, I get a weird perspective not matching my polygon. The result is als...

Re: Grids, and making a Floor Plan
I'm with MicroUgly on this one. If you want to set up a room plan and draw objects to some definite scale I'd do the following: 1. Open the document properties: File->Document Properties 2. On the Page tab, set the custom size drop down to "ft" and make the width 10, and the height 20. 3. ...

Re: screencasters.heathenx.org
Does anyone know if there is there a way that SWF files can be converted to avi files for Windows XP? Yeah. By getting the creators of the swf files to post their original avi files as well. :) I have all my vids in avi format, and heathenx is currently trying to get his in a suitably consistent fo...

Re: screencasters.heathenx.org
plunk the ubiquitous 'beta' stamp on the site, did you use nicu's rubber stamp tutorial to create your beta stamp? :P As a matter of fact... :) Actually I didn't go back and re-read it, but I did it based on my memory of his method when he posted about it. I just went back and looked at it now and ...

Re: screencasters.heathenx.org
As there are several good suggestions about the site, we thought we'd be terribly unique and plunk the ubiquitous 'beta' stamp on the site, just to let people know that things may be changing and improving as we go.
Keep the comments and suggestions (and of course the compliments!) going.

Re: screencasters.heathenx.org
I think heathenx has covered the reasoning behind it quite well - surprise surprise ;). However, one other thing to note: right now we do have Avi's available for us to use. afterall, this is the format that all of our screencasts have been recorded into. Keep in mind that - as far as I understand i...

we were actually done a month ago but i had to teach richard how to do everything. he didn't even know how to use a computer. jeez. Hey come to think of it, I don't see any of the flashing unicorn images I asked for... Have I been cheated? I knew I should have coded it myself. Frontpage has a macro...
