Re: Fonts in SVG on the web
Thanks for the good answer. I started my diagram drawing for book projects, then carried my spacebar clicking habit to images for the web. Lesson learned.

Re: Fonts in SVG on the web
Ok, Ive put 2 screenshots in the attachments. Edge does not recognize spaces and bunches the text on the left hand side. However, they both seem to work when I create a separate text box and place it where I want it, so that might be the answer for now. The other answer is to turn the text to a path...

Re: Fonts in SVG on the web
But it is installed on the computer that Im looking at. That's my point. Firefox and chrome is displaying just fine, but explorer an edge is not. They don't seem to recognise more than one space-bar. Is it better practice to use different text boxes rather than tap a lengthy space between one bunch ...

Fonts in SVG on the web
Hi, I thought I'd touch base here with a problem that others may be familiar with. :) I draw diagrams that include quite a lot of text. However, SVG diagrams throw up a few unexpected problems on the web. Some browsers (eg. Firefox) changed my fonts. For example, a sans serif font is turned into 'Ti...

Imported png wont display
I have drawn a diagram and I want to produce it as an svg and also as a wmf. In my drawing I have inserted a small png image and it displays just fine inside the overall svg. However, when I "save as" wmf format, the png portion turns into a black square. (emf does the same) Are there any ...

Re: Object to Path increases filesize
Ive found a very nice WOFF font called Roboto . Its a san serif font and looks really good on my Inkscape charts. Problem is Im running a Drupal website and I have no idea where my fonts directory is on the server to upload it. I think Ill just leave it to the New Year and leave chasing my tail till...

Re: Object to Path increases filesize
Thanks. I had never heard of WOFF fonts.
Is there a standard list of WOFF fonts available, or do webmasters have to find them one at a time and list them on his stylesheet or something?

Object to Path increases filesize
SVG makes far better charts than png, especially when there are small fonts. A problem arises however, because fonts in svg charts render differently in various browsers. For example, arial font turned into a serif font in Safari browser and the length of each line bled over the chart boundaries. To...

[solved] Border changes object size
I draw an object to a required size, but afterwards decide the border is not thick enough, so I increase its thickness. ( :ugeek: ubergeek Ged) But the border changes the object dimensions slightly. Not a big problem to fix, but annoying if not noticed till later. Is there an option somewhere, that ...

Re: Expand rectangle on one side?
Hi Polygon,
Cloned Tiles look like what I want, but I cannot duplicate what you've done here. Can you point me to the place in the CTile box (I suspect shift and scale) and tell me what figures to enter?
Also, I see you have an incrementing height. Can we do that with the width too?

Re: Expand rectangle on one side?
What I mean is something like this, except more rectangles. (about fifty of them)

At the moment they are all the same size. I want to drag them as shown. Is it possible?

Expand rectangle on one side?
I have a number of small rectangles of equal size, next to each other, and grouped. I want to expand them all together by dragging diagonally, but with the left-hand-side height constrained, so that each box gets progressively bigger than the former one. Is there a tool to do this? I am hoping that ...

Re: White Area Problem
Hang on a minute; I may be wrong. My website seem to be rendering the images at full width. The problem I'm having is happening on E-Pub software called Sigil. The content pane shows text at full width but inserted images at about 75%. I'll take it up with them, and get back here if I need to.

White Area Problem
When I create SVG images for the Web, I save them to the boundary of the image. (Document Properties >Resize to content) However, when uploaded to a web page, there seems to be a bunch of space around them? Can Inkscape fix this? I noticed this when my css stylesheet stipulated an image width of 100...

Re: Why is it so much trouble to select text?
@ Ged Whenever you have trouble with selecting, just make the cursor active (blinking), use the arrows "<" / ">" for positioning and then Shift + arrows "<" / ">" for selecting. You may also apply fine adjustments for sub or superscript with Alt + up and down...

Re: Why is it so much trouble to select text?
I managed to create subscript an superscript but when I placed my text on a path the white text on a grey background changed to black. Working with text on inkscape is a beast! Does anyone else have these problems?

Why is it so much trouble to select text?
Ive been having awful trouble selecting and editing text? Im trying to select 1/2 and change it so that "1" is superscript and "2" is subscript. Simple job? :? Ive been at it for an hour and it takes ages to select a single letter. Even when the cursor is blinking in the right pl...

Re: Adjusting Text
Thanks.
I bought my habits over from another drawing program. Perhaps Inkscape should knock 'flowed' text on the head to avoid confusion?

Adjusting Text
Text tools include horizontal kerning, vertical shift, and character rotation. However, they are greyed out and wont work. Only spacing works. Can you tell me how to activate these please?
