Re: Keep object selected after undelete
Set both fill and stroke to none. You'll get a see through bounding box.

Re: Spiky circle thingies
It won't come out looking exactly the same, but you can play around with creating a star with like 15 corners and mess with the spoke, rounding, and sizing.

Re: Where Inkscape has an xcf save option?
I customize all of my installs during installation. Trust me, it's correct. I'm not new to computers. This is where my inexpertise is really showing but I am thinking the problem is with having two program files directories on the same system! Any chance you could put GIMP in your C:\Program files d...

I get the same result as well. The stroke seems to be overriding the bounding box option.

This is what mine does when pasting in landscape. I am unable to select that extra circle.

Re: Pasting text from other win program - fails
I can't reproduce this. I can successfully paste from Chrome and Photoshop CS6 so far that I've tried. What specific programs are you having trouble copying from? It could be the way those programs copy as opposed to the way Inkscape pastes.

Re: Bug? Copy and paste breaks clones array
If you continue to have the issue with future new files, it would suggest that there is something corrupting the arrays on your end.

Re: Bug? Copy and paste breaks clones array
I only get this bug with your file (even with creating a new array altogether), except my paste results in an empty array (ie no circles paste over at all). I do not get this bug when I create the array in a new file. I'm using 0.48.4 r9939 I'm attaching my new file that works on my end. See if some...

Re: Where Inkscape has an xcf save option?
I can't get that to work. I've added my bin to path and nada. Inkscape ver 0.48.4 r9939 and Gimp ver 2.8.4. I also rebooted for good measure. I imagine you have have checked your syntax which is all important. Other that that, I don't know what to tell you, you could paste your entire path variable...

For a map with that kind of topology, I'd say try looking into more 'vexel' type work.

Re: Inkscape Plugin - Open PSD
Here's an intro to them, at least for CS6. http://planetphotoshop.com/cs6-vector-tools.html
That mainly just shows the shape tools, but it also has a pen tool and a freeform pen tool.

Inkscape Plugin - Open PSD
I've just found a handy Inkscape plugin that allows you to open a PSD and it will pull all of the vector data and ignore the rasterized stuff. It allows you to just File > Open and point to the PSD and it opens pretty flawlessly from what I've found so far. Here is a before > after of a PSD from Pho...

I'm using 0.48.4 r9939. Here's my before and after w/ settings.

Judging by what I can see of your settings, you don't have the 'Presence' box ticked in section 3.

Re: Bug? Path Difference loses path segments
Ok, let me know if this works for what you're trying to achieve. Use the node tool and select the top of your zero line and use alt+right arrow to create just a slight teeny gap, and do the same with the bottom of the line. Now use difference and see if that is a viable workaround. The attachment is...

Re: Bug? Path Difference loses path segments
The only way I can get all of the holes to remain when using ctrl+- is to move the zero line over a bit so it's not overlapping that 5th column of circles, but sits between the 5th and 6th columns directly down the center of the square; however, this does not make any sort of cut or divide the squar...

Sorry if I sound like a complete nubcake here, but isn't this pretty much the same as just copying and using the 'flip selection horiz/vert' options?

Re: Separate parts of a single image to different layers.
I skipped the brightness/contrast step altogether and just opened the .png file in inkscape and did a trace bitmap from that. It came out great without the extra step.

When I tried to import the .eps file inkscape it couldn't load it. Is there some sort of plugin that I need?
It won't open up in Scribbus either.

Re: Separate parts of a single image to different layers.
Simarilius, that was exactly it. I select one "fella" and all 3 are selected at once ( one giant movable box around all of them ). I'll try the method you mentioned when I get a chance, thanks.

Separate parts of a single image to different layers.
Pretty much the topic sums it up. I imported the Devart Fella *.png into Inkscape and did a bitmap trace; however, there are 3 images on one file. Is there a way of selecting one and cutting/pasting it to a different layer? So far things I've tried selects all 3 at once. I also want to know this bec...
