Re: A camp and a warming fire
Thanks johntaylor. Can't believe it's 3.5 years since I touched this... haha, I guess this will remain, forever, a WIP.

Re: Red Sun Travel Poster
You make some nice posters ! This one gives me a very exotic desert planet feeling. I think the towers/sci-fi skyscrapers need a bit of variation, or are these technological devices ? Thanks Esper. Exotic desert planet is exactly what I was going for. You are absolutely right about variation, too -...

Red Sun Travel Poster
I had not done a fake vintage sci fi travel poster in a long time, but last night I did:
[ Direct Link ]
I actually think it came out very nicely, something I rarely think of my own work; but suggestions for improvement are of course very welcome!
(And, hey, that DeviantArt tag is very convenient.)

Night with two moons
Another very quick and dirty image. The tree, grass and cloud are from Openclipart.org. (Did I ever mention I love those guys?)
Hope the colors are alright (standard colorblind disclaimer).

Re: Dawn
Thanks for the detailed Feedback. I'll take a look at it and probably make the planet darker. There actually is a blue object behind the planet which has a blur on it, supposed to represent the atmosphere. It is the same all around the planet, but it's really not visible on the top because it's hidd...

Thanks. Yeah I looked up what he does, it'll be cool to have them in Inkscape. I've never really done much with filters but I saw that my current install of Inkscape has tons of them.

Re: Dawn
No problemo. And I am not surprised, since more intense colors are easier than subtle tones.

Re: Dawn
Thanks Johannski, I appreciate feedback. The planet being too lit up, so to speak, on the night side was something I did consider... May build a version with a darker night. I am indeed colorblind. Not truly monochromatic, that is, I see colors, I just see them very different. A fairly sizable perce...

A few years ago I created this: http://files.pandemonium.de/ink/planet02.png Alright, but not too fancy. I just made a new image with a very similar motif: http://files.pandemonium.de/ink/dawn04.png I personally think there's just a tad of improvement there. (Didn't check the pics for weird colors, ...

Re: Explore the Universe
Yeah but then the glow will be around the entire planet's curvature, and not look like a reflection. I guess what I need is sort of an oval shape that looks like it's on the surface of a sphere.

Re: More Quick Scenery
Mmh. Maybe. The idea is to also use it for a setting I am working on, and while it's more space opera than hard sci fi, it can't be too surreal.
Sorry for the late reply, I got distracted by too much other work.

Re: Desert Scene 2
I know. This is an ancient thread. But I am proud, beecause an indie author decided this thing was good enouggh to be used as a cover for his book: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E9G96W4 The price point probably helped (I just allowed him to use it), but still! It's pretty neat so see something I made ...

More Quick Scenery
Another 10-minute scenery. Sunset on a world orbiting near a red star.
Todo: Terrain needs some texture, clouds need some work. Perhaps add a moon in the upper right corner.

Edit Gradient Window Gone
Hi All, When I click the edit button to edit graidents, the window for that doesn't pop up anywhere. Th emain Inkscape window does lose focus for a moment. It's not behind anything - I checked. I did have a secondary screen which is now gone, so I wonder if Inkscape saved off-screen coordinates; my ...

Re: The Imperial Dragon
Mhh, you are right, the thick outline kinda doesn't match the style of the interior. If I just switch it off I get this: http://enderra.com/files/2012/10/dragons3-563x280.png Removing the outline from the interior nets us this: http://enderra.com/files/2012/10/dragons4-563x582.png (For some reason t...
