Thank you for your replies,

changing the settings in the preferences actually helps a tad, but the problem persists. Especially when I import svg from other applications.
I guess I'll wait for the next release. Finger crossed.

I always try new Inkscape versions with the hope that the refresh issue on Windows is gone, I'm wondering if I'm the only one having this problem. Next rel. on windows, any speed improvement?

I'm curious if there's any improvement about screen refresh under windows in the next release.
Currently Inkscape suffer of this only weakness to me, the slowness of the screen refresh. Maybe it's due to the gtk...?
