Re: Would you list your tablet that is Inkscape compatible here?
I can't find a ruler. The usable bit of it is 5 inches by 4. or maybe 6 by 4. Small anyway. It was the one I could afford. I use it all the time instead of a mouse, for everything. I do loads of art with it. both inkscape and raster stuff. And it's just fine for me. It's the only one I have ever had...

Re: Reducung SVG file size even more ??
Thank you for that very clear explanation.
I had not realised that blur was a filter.
I will take it into account in the future.
And yes!
The greys are well cool!

Re: Would you list your tablet that is Inkscape compatible here?
Wacom Graphire CTE-430 I got it cheap off ebay a couple of years ago. I love it. When I got this vista computer I had to download a new driver or something off the wacom site. At first it didn't work with inkscape and then it did. I might have done something in preferences, I'm not sure now. Anyway,...

Re: Reducung SVG file size even more ??
5) Filters tend to pile up. Bear in mind that every time you blur an object it adds a filter. Sometimes it's better to attach an already existing filter to an object, rather than just blurring it in the Fill and Stroke dialogue, or picking it from the Filters menu again. Could this be clarified ple...

Re: Beginers stuff.
My computer is a lap top, bought at the end of last august, just before windows 7 came out, so it has vista on it. It's pretty good. Not top of the range, but 2 gig ram and a dual core processor. Plenty of space on the hard drive too. So, I don't know. If I hide the hair it's better. Which is OK exc...

Re: Cambridge
Thanks.
I will have to try that.
I did try it before but it didn't work.
I think your advice about making them absolute units might make all the difference!
I have had a look at your gallery on deviant art, and your stuff really is wonderful!

Re: Beginers stuff.
Thanks. I appreciate your comment. I thought the mouth come out well good. I used interpolation for the hair, which was Ok with this as the hair is very structured. I do have a tablet, I drew two lines, interpolated between them and then scruffed them up with the tweak tool. Then I duplicated, alter...

Re: Cambridge
I think the stuff you do is amazing.
Can I ask, How do you do hair?
I have been trying with interpolation, and I end up with thousands of paths, but it still don't look right.
Yours looks like hair, so if it's not a trade secret or something, can you give me a hint?

Re: How to make symmetrical crescent ? Shape and Angle
This is how I'd do it. Make the two circles. Select one and do object > align and distribute. This will bring up a box. Tell it to align to page. Then click the third icon on both the top and bottom rows. This will move your circle to the centre of the page. Now do the same with the other circle. Th...

Hi!
I'm Lillie, I'm very new here and very new to Inkscape.
I would like to thank anyone and everyone who has ever posted here.
Just reading through other peoples questions and answers has taught me so much, and looking at other peoples work has amazed and inspired me.
Thanks!

Re: How to help needed please ?
Try this. Place your shape over your picture, select both and do clip. This should leave you with just the bit you want to use later. Do copy. Then do undo. This will bring back your original picture with your shape on top of it, select the shape only and delete it. This will leave your original pic...

Re: ? about adding fonts to inkscape
For fonts that I only use occasionally in art programs and which I don't want to load onto windows permanently I use The Font Thing and/or Font Viewer. I like the font thing best but it's very old and I have to run it in compatibility mode. With either of these I can keep my extra fonts in a folder ...

Re: Simple yet very important! Can it be done?
I'm a noob too, but until some one cleverer comes along, you could try this. Select both paths. Do path > combine Then click :tool_node: so you can see the nodes. Then highlight the two nodes you want to join and use which ever of the joining tools is appropriate. (on the tool bar with the plus and ...

Re: Clone with different style
I'm very new to Inkscape, so forgive me if this is not the thing to do, but couldn't you just make your clone and then unlink it (from the edit/clone menu). Then you can change it however you like.

Re: Beginers stuff.
Thank you! I'm a bit embarrassed. There are two N's in beginner! I knew it didn't look right so I tried two G's but that looked worse. I am not the worlds best speller... Yes, I use layers. With the first one the hair is the problem so just making those layers invisible, or replacing them with a pla...

Beginers stuff.
Well. After some years of doing stuff in PSP8 but avoiding all the vector stuff cos I didn't understand it, I thought it was time I got to grips with it. So about 3 weeks ago I got Inkscape and started working through some tutorials. I made a jug, some pac man ghosts (one of them rainbow striped), a...

Inkscape slows down
Hi. I'm new here, I just got into using inkscape about a week ago and I've had fun following tutorials and learning the basics of how it works. But now I have started doing some original work and have run into a problem. I am doing a portrait, a face, and the hair is done using a lot of separate str...
