Re: Pattern along path question
Ok, I tried again and it's working now. I wonder if I was getting the error before I found the trace bitmap option. But the following steps work: Open png image of each foot print, select image, trace to bitmap Copy image to page I'm working in Group images Select grouped images, then path Pattern a...

[solved] Pattern along path question
I'm trying to create a curved path with foot prints along it. The actual one will have various types of foot prints, but this one just has two feet for practice. The problem I'm running into is that it's repeating the path horizontally, more like it's a wide stroke with the pattern. Here's the resul...

Re: Keeping appropriate print size
Replying to my own post to add more info... It appears that I scanned it in at 99dpi, but Inkscape is using 90dpi. So can I change the Inkscape document to be 99dpi? I've adjusted the export dpi setting, but that didn't do anything for the new document being created.

[solved] Keeping appropriate print size
Ok, another question... In my quest to digitize this sewing pattern, I thought I was done but then when I tried printing it out, it was a different scale! Ack! The original pattern is 8.5" wide, and the printed one is 9.5" wide. I tried manually scaling it, but it's still a bit off and I'm...

Re: Offset 3 of 4 sides of an object
Oh, that guide REALLY helped! Thank you!!! I have it bookmarked for next time I forget. ;) My object is now one path all the way around (not only was it not attached at the half circle area, but it also wasn't attached at the bottom left corner), and with the help of that offset page you linked to, ...

Re: Offset 3 of 4 sides of an object
It's not one line. I started out with the left and top lines, then appended the bottom and right lines/curves. Then I did a circle and tried to attach that to the path. I think that's where I run into the problem is getting the circle to attach to the existing path. I'm just not sure how to do that.

Re: Offset 3 of 4 sides of an object
Ok, here's some images... The faded lines are the scanned in pattern. The thick black lines are the lines I drew in Inkscape, consisting of straight lines on top, bottom, and left side, Bezier curves on the bottom portion and right side, and a half circle on the top right. <deleted image> And here i...

[solved] Offset 3 of 4 sides of an object
I have a sewing pattern that I'm wanting to digitize. I have scanned in a hand drawing in 2 sections, put them together with layers, decreased opacity of the layers so I could see what I'm drawing, and then drawn the outside lines which consist of straight lines and bezier curves, plus a half circle...
