In Inkscape every object has a id and can have a Label. This Label help to identify the object. I am using the Canvas. Try this: create a piece of text, make it red, select it, convert this Object to Path... and ... text is black !

For web-safe .svg files, I need to convert text to a path. Unfortunately, Inkscape looses the text color and then makes all text black

Is it a bug? Work-around ?
