Re: Extensions>Images>Embed vs Drag/drop-embed of jpeg
A known difference (in formatting only) between embedding a bitmap image via 'Drag&Drop' or 'File > Import…' and and the python-based 'Extensions > Image > Embed Image…' is described in this (otherwise unrelated) comment . Edit: actually I was thinking ab...

Re: Extensions>Images>Embed vs Drag/drop-embed of jpeg
I use Inkscape to produce PDF-files and like to keep the blueprint in one spot, quite simply. Also, the issue is that while drag-and-drop-embedding lowers the image quality, choosing the option from the menu does not.

Extensions>Images>Embed vs Drag/drop-embed of jpeg
Hello, When I drag and drop a jpg image to a project I get the option to either link or embed it. If I choose embed, the image is recompressed to a lower quality than the original. If I instead choose to link the image and then use the Extensions > Images > Embed image menu choice, the image is embe...

~suv, thank you, that is a great idea. I've never really tried the find-function. Didn't know that groups could be used in that way either. I will have a go at it and see what I come up with

Re: Problems with PDF-creation
Only paths, no bitmaps. It's during the import from EPS or AI that these groups are created. I'm guessing the SVG-format is using different concepts when it comes to groups, layers and independent shapes. For some reason it seems like the import procedure treats paths and even parts-of-paths as inde...

Problems with PDF-creation
Greetings, I am in the process of converting an EPS file to a PDF through a number of intermediary steps. I can't get the Inkscape/Ghostscript import to work on my system (Windows 7 x64) but that's not the biggest problem (I can successfully convert by using a console window and running ps2pdf manua...

background colour shows 1/256:th discrepancy
I present to you, exhibit A: exhibit_A.png You should be able to see a rough checkerboard effect in the image above. Note that the source SVG (also attached) has its background colour set to 808080FF -- the same as the two solid squares. At first I thought I was going crazy but after cross-checking ...

Re: Inkscape & Encapsulated Post Script Question: ASAP!
Hi there and thank you for responding to my inquiry! The big reason my friend wants me to get away from vector is because without bitmaps, there are no jaggies. Do you agree? That sounds like a contradiction. Vectors are always smooth whereas a low resolution bitmap gets "jaggedy" if stre...

Re: Inkscape: unreliable
The only thing I know is that on average, I have between 3 and 7 crashes over the course of a normal day at the office. Some times I preemptively restart Inkscape to get a "fresh" environment, but this doesn't always help. Could be bug #221712 “ Inkscape's Vanishing Act (the disappearing ...

Inkscape: unreliable
As much as I love -- and when I say love I really mean it -- the Inkscape project, it's proven time and again to be extremely crash prone. Maybe this is a platform problem? I'm running it on a windows 7-machine. Maybe the port/windows libraries are simply not as good as they should be, I can't say f...

That's a great workaround, thank you sas!

Inscape does not relink duplicated Dynamic Offsets
Hello,
In Preferences > Clones there is an option to relink clones when duplicating a group of objects. This feature does not take linked clones in account which I think would make sense. Is this a deliberate choice?

[solved] Dynamic Offset craziness
As I was creating a website design I came across the following irregularity.. Please try and confirm the following: 1. Create a new document. Medium sized, I used 1000x1400 px 2. Create a rectangle in the horizontal center of the page, 720 px wide, stretching from top to bottom. 3. Create a dynamic ...

Spiro Spline weirdness
Hello, Spiro Splines are great but they show some unconsistency while editing nodes. Please see attached images. The image 'spiro 1.jpg' shows a regular path using SS. Note the marked node. Image 'spiro 2.jpg' shows the exact same path but with that one node shifted about three pixels from its previ...

Make a bitmap copy: ⋅ Create your masked image as usual ⋅ Select it ⋅ ALT+B or Menu: Edit > Make a Bitmap Copy edit: Sorry, brain low on coffee today. I read that you wanted an image for some reason.. I'm not sure if it's possible to cut through a full group. I think i...

Re: [howto] "Punch" picture to border
What I would do: 1. Select the border; 2. Press ALT + D to clone it. The clone will be selected automatically; 3. With the cloned border still selected, hold SHIFT and click once on the image below to select these two objects; 4. Menu: Object > Clip > Set You should now have the original Border and ...

Re: inconsistency using Blur
I reacted on this too as it seems quite counter-intuitive.. then again there's no unit tied to the blur -- the number could basically be a percentage of the objects size for all I know.. It could be argued that the predefined unit should be the one set in the document properties though.. All in all,...

Re: Stretching without scaling
Both can be solved quite easily. 1. There's an option that can be toggled. In the development version of 0.47 that I'm using this option is accessible from the front-end GUI. In 0.46 you press CTRL+SHIFT+P, go to Transforms and deselect "Scale stroke width"; 2. Press CTRL+SHIFT+D. This all...

Bug: Tiled Clones offset not as expected
Hello,
I wish to draw attention to a bug that's been bothering me for some time (full report with example here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/213793). Hope I'm not too pushy, it seems the bug has kinda fallen out of scope.
