Re: Screen recorders, capture, etc.
Interesting the differing approaches Never had much problem with screencaptures in linux, probably because over the years I have always used KDE. This in Kubuntu 16.04. KDE uses 'activities' as well as 'desktops' This my 'activity' setup for screencapture, only inside the box is recorded using ffmpe...

Use slimjet all the time.
12.06.0 in this kubuntu machine and older 32 bit versions on a linux netbook and my 32 bit PCLOS desktop.
A little heavy on resources but very configurable.

Sometimes you need a crystal ball. In this case I think it is this:

It is just another data file.
What you use to burn to a CD depends on your OS and available burning application.

Re: Halftone Shading
I might be missing something here but surely the point of traditional half-toning, as in reproducing grayscale images for printing, is the dots are on a regular grid and the dot size introduces the toning effect. A checker board pattern of different size is not strictly half-toning. A very coarse at...

Re: Technicbold font
I can see the problem now, part of it was language, I thought the font as referenced did not show in ubuntu. It is part the difference in rendering engines between Windows and Linux, together with old font is (1996) and broken. The characters are on wrong codes. This might work, I rebuilt the font w...

Ok I got the euro font mixed up. From your link: TechnicBold.ttf 78,368B Back to the original question of installing in linux. That font in my home folder ~/.fonts The font displayed in Inkscape and in Gimp. screenshot http://i.imgur.com/lER6TOw.jpg As far as I am concerned that is how the font looks.

Not ubuntu, this in PClinuxOS KDE. Inkscape 0.91 screenshots http://i.imgur.com/ntQ0ir7.jpg There is something a bit strange with the font, as seen on the download page with non-displaying charachters but.. Have you tried putting the font in your (hidden) home folder ~/.fonts. If you do not have one...

Re: Need help making drawings into single line art 4 whitebo
Tyler, tried what you suggested and it still comes out as multiple objects verse a single line. I found this out by selecting the 'edit paths nodes' and you could clearly see it is outlined verse a single line. It is because Inkscape does not do a centerline trace. You need to run a bitmap (prefera...

Re: Colours and Inkscape
I noted an online tracer mentioned in another thread on this board, and thought that I would try it to see the effects. I do not want to get too far off topic but that online tracer is based on autotrace Generally the Inkscape trace is more than adequate. Based sometime in the distant past on Potra...

Even 'buntu follows the conventions.

Re: seeking vector french curves for inkscape
A larger image will certainly help, did this before that last post. This is more an exercise in bitmap tweaking than anything else. (all in Gimp) The gif is a bit small so too many jaggies on the outline. First convert from indexed to RGB. Normally scaling these is a waste of time but in this case, ...

Maybe as a starter. From a gif to a bmp then vectorised using Autotrace (still works in linux) using the centrerline switch.

Re: Help with squares and printing on both sides of paper
@ woopydalan I don't understand how to use the tiled clones/align and distrubute panel/rows and columns option. How can I make one 15x15 mm square, then print a few of them in rows and columns and have them line up so I can print them on the back?.. I have a bit of sympathy for you, as with most gra...

Re: Help with squares and printing on both sides of paper
..The one you are posting doesn't look like all the squares are the same size. Also, they aren't lined up... That is because it is a copy of your graphic, which was flipped horizontally as previous posts. You spent a long time on it so why change anything. It would be better if you started from scr...

Re: Help with squares and printing on both sides of paper
Do you realise you drew 7*13 squares over the original 8*14? Sorry, having one of those senior moments. By flipping the paper in the printer, you cannot guarantee they will mach exactly. However I did print the original off (Brother inkjet with not the greatest of paper feeds), both sides and they ...

I get the same here, using PClinuxOS 32 bit & 0.48.4 That error message and it generates a zero length PDF file. The alternative cmyk-tiff is a bit better. Still a couple of error messages and best to lose any transparency but it does work. Then of course you have to package that as a PDF, Do no...

Re: Vectorize a map
The problem with the image is that it is 1 bit (black and white) and indexed. You can improve it in Gimp for use in Inkscape by Change the mode to RGB (in the gimp image menu) Apply the erode filter (filter - generic menu) to shrink the white pixels. Since the gray is virtually a black/white 1 pix c...

Just for info: Gimp opens an svg file as a raster image and there is an option to set the ppi to whatever value you want. There is also an option to import the paths at the same time but that is all that is imported, just a path, no fill, no stroke. It is probably back to being a page size issue wit...
