Re: Announcing Inkscape 0.92.4

It used to be difficult. But with Inkscape 0.92 it is as easy as copying
- the autotrace.exe and
- centerline-trace.inx and
- centerline-trace.py
to the user's extension folder.

I <3 Inkscape 0.92.4.

Re: Announcing Inkscape 0.92.4

So happy with the new Inkscape! I think it is finally going to replace my 0.91. It works great and I really like the centerline trace extension. It is very easy to install now.
0.92.4 works on Windows, I got it to work under Linux too! Very nice.
Thank you to all the developers!

Re: If you could choose 1 thing that must be implemented or fixed in Inkscape 1.0, what would it be?

Hi Moini, So, I am not sure if I can still add my one thing.. It would be very nice to be able to change the UI. Let's say add or delete buttons. And maybe in this way be able to make a simpler UI for children or not so advanced users. I think in the future Inkscape could be used in primary schools....

Re: inkscape on touchscreen

Hi Bartovan,

In this topic there is one person who uses a touchscreen only. But what kind of pen he uses, I do not know.

I do not have such a device, so it would be nice to read a bit more about it here. Good luck!

Re: Using Inkscape without a keyboard

Wow I haven't been here for a while.. though I remembered this discussion. But I discovered a way to make your own on-screen keyboard for Windows! Something I have been looking for too, because I would like to make screen casts. And then you need a way to visualise also the short key combinations on...

Re: Gradient mesh

Hi msdobrescu,
I tried it again with all the steps you described, under Win8. But it did not make the colours display in the gradient mesh. Unfortunately.
But under Linux everything works well, so I will keep that installation for the mesh experiments. But thanks anyway for the explanation.

Re: Gradient mesh

Ha, so I installed the Inkscape 0.91pre2 r on Linux Mint and there the gradient mesh does work properly.
So, it is more difficult in Windows 8... But now I can finally use the gradient mesh. Yeah. And next time I don't sleep well, I can try this nice feature in Inkscape.

Re: Gradient mesh

Hi msdobrescu, Nice that you answered so quickly. With the colour disappearing, I think I meant what you mentioned earlier. Oh, no you quoted Tonttu . So,first I make a path with a fill. After that I use Ctrl M and I drag to apply a mesh to the path. The fill colour disappears and the mesh nodes app...

Hi msdobrescu, I am also trying to work with gradients &Windows 8. I have installed this build: r13487 and the gradient mesh tool is working, but with the same problems as davidhan has: the colour diappears. So, would you be so kind to explain more detailed which GTK library you have downloaded ...

Re: can you use a draw tablet for inkscape [Wacom Intuos Pen

Hi HTA-1010,

Yes, you can. I have the slightly older one, a Wacom pen & touch Medium. It works fine!

In Inkscape you must add the tablet once. Go to File > Input Devices and choose Use Pressure Sensitive Tablet.
Also choose Save (or else it will forget your choice)
and restart Inkscape.

Re: Inkscape Tutorial in Full Circle Magazine

Hi Xav,

Yes I agree that there is a lot going on in Inkscape. I recently wrote a part of a Dutch book, 30 pages about Inkscape. It felt like trying to put an elephant into a moving box. ;-) Well, good luck with the work.

Re: Inkscape Tutorial in Full Circle Magazine

Hello Xav, Yesterday I started to read your articles. They are very thorough, thank you for explaining some of the obscurities (for me) of the tweak tool. I always thought it would be fun, but I couldn't understand it at all. It must be a very nice tool to use in combination with a touch screen, som...

Re: Inkscape in Windows 8.1 with a Wacom graphics tablet

Hi Eric471, Here I use a Wacom Bamboo pen & touch, which is 2 or 3 years old, CTH-470. It works fine for me, under Inkscape, with Windows 8.1 64 Bits. I have recently changed the keys on the tablet pen into Shift and Ctrl and that works really nicely. There is a good tool with the tablet to make...

Re: Using Inkscape without a keyboard

Dear JJReach,

Yes, it would be a very good thing if the developers would make such an app. There is a way to make a specific request, but I do not know how.
But please let us know if the suggestions work for you, so that other people who read this can learn from it too. Good luck with it!

Re: Using Inkscape without a keyboard

Hello JJReach, It sounds as a kind of app-version of Inkscape. At the moment I do not know of such an Inkscape function or plugin for Windows. I think this might be a request for the developers. There is a GIMP & Inkscape app for Android with those modification keys on screen, but I think you ca...

1. Maybe making a blue ellips, with no line, then duplicate it (Ctrl+D) and make that one white. Make the white one smaller with the selection tool. 2. If you have a blue path and some white on top of it, select them both and go to Paths > Difference. Then you have them cut out. Repeat those steps f...

Re: tracing

Hi Dasadler, Good that you are persevering! I am not really sure what has happened. But next time you make a path, you can easily duplicate it. If it is selected, press Ctrl+D. Then there are 2 paths on top of each other. If you drag one aside, that will remain intact. Use the copy to experiment on....

Inkscape SVG & wordpress

Hi, Right now I am making a Dutch Wordpress blog on Inkscape. I found out, that as a rule, it is not possible to upload svg files to wordpress, because of 'security reasons'. So I wanted to make some svg files downloadable via Dropbox, but there you need an account before you can really download fil...
