Re: Can't save as DXF
Problem solved. I uninstalled Comodo and everything is working as it should. Just for information it turned out I couldn't save in any format other than SVG.

Can't save as DXF
I installed Comodo firewall yesterday, today when I opened Inkscape and tried to save a file as DXF I got a message that Inkscape was trying to access the Internet, I chose refuse as I didn't see why it would, now I get a message saying "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate i...

CraftRobo Print and Cut
This is more a request for help to the programmers of Inkscape. CraftRobo/Silhouette has an optical eye which is used to do Print and Cut designs, owners can cut from the Inkscape program but we can't use the Print and Cut option. We need to be able to choose Show Reg Marks in the software and then ...

Re: Problem with tiled clones
This comment briefly mentions the issue with custom templates, maybe it helps. If you create new templates with a custom page orientation/size: after adjusting the page size to an object (e.g. a rectangle), create a new layer, move the object to the new layer, delete the original layer, and only no...

Re: Problem with tiled clones
Thank you. I have set up my own default page to open because my files are for a electric cutter and I need to stay within the cutting area which is smaller than and A4 sheet of card. Now I know how to keep my default page and still be able to use tiled clones that will be a huge help and I'm sure th...

Re: Problem with tiled clones
To answer your questions; 1. The element I want to clone was made in Inkscape and no 3rd party software was involved. 2. Yes, it happens in a new document. 3. I don't use layers, I've never found it necessary to make the files I make. 4. Tried this and got a similar result the clones were nicely cir...

Problem with tiled clones
This isn't something I haven't done before in version .47, but I tried it last night in .48 using the nightly builds and it didn't work properly, so I was wondering if there it is bugged. What I want to do is create tiled clones around the centre point, I've dragged it downwards, selected all the se...

Re: Problem opening AI files
Thank you everyone for the help, as Inkscape is opening some .ai files and not others I assume the fault lies with how the file is saved and the problem ones I have can only be opened in Illustrator or another program I have, which is a shame, I really didn't want to put the files through a middle p...

Re: Problem opening AI files
Thanks I did see that post and I tried the conversion, the problem was it only opens files of a certain size and some of the ones I have are too big. I tried what you suggested and found something odd. Firstly, no there were no new errors written to the log for files that didn't open. Secondly, I tr...

Re: Font size
Hi I've got a CraftRobo which I cut to directly from Inkscape and a Gazelle, but I convert the files for cutting for this machine. I've just done a quick test cutting text to my CR and the text cut exactly the size I set it to in Inkscape. Silly question maybe but are you changing the units of measu...

Re: Problem opening AI files
I did find the extensions error log. I was a bit confused about the list eg. does the latest error write at the top of the log list or the bottom  So I tried to open a couple of files, re-opened the list and nothing had been added to it and none of the reports mentioned .AI or .ai However all ...

Re: Problem opening AI files
Yes I did read that and it was a bit over my head I'm afraid, the only conclusion I came to from reading it was perhaps I need this Ghostscript thingymajig, which I thought was strange I never had problems opening AI when I used WinXP. AI (Illustrator) files are on the import list, but every time I ...

Re: Studio to PDF to Inkscape
Thank you. I've been using the CraftRobo and RoboMaster for a very long time, I was the first person in the UK to have one of these machines, so I'm quite familiar with most of the various software on the market, I have most of them. So I'm quite competent with using Inkscape etc to make cutter file...

Re: Studio to PDF to Inkscape
Hi Lucille, Are there any experts in file formats here, who In laymans terms can tell me if this is a vector file or what exactly it is? What is the file format? Did you intend to upload a file? In what way is this file different from others you've created by this method? What is wrong with it, and...

Studio to PDF to Inkscape
Are there any experts in file formats here, who In laymans terms can tell me if this is a vector file or what exactly it is? It was made in a new program called Studio and converted to PDF using CutePDF, when I've used this method in other vector programs to open convert the files to PDF and use in ...

Re: Problem opening Inkscape .48
This is very strange since posting last night I've done nothing with Inkscape, I'm not a huge supporter of uninstalling and reinstalling software. This morning I double clicked the icon just on the off chance and low and behold it opened, what on earth is going on

Problem opening Inkscape .48
I downloaded and installed Inkscape .48 today and now it won't open, do I need to download or do anything special to get it to work with Win7 64 bit? I get the following message regardless of double clicking of a file or clicking on the program icon. The error message reads - "This application ...

Re: Joining Nodes
Sadly this didn't work well for me it joined all the nodes to each other, bit like spaghetti junction  I've read the manual from the link and it does say Ctrl+J joins selected nodes, so perhaps my version of Inkscape which is 21612-0906172010 might have a bug. I'll work with the join button unt...
