It's a gradient, composed from the blue used for Sherlock's scarf and the grey of Sherlock's cloak (:

Sherlock

So I don't get the BBC and I caught Sherlock on Netflix recently and lets just say it rapidly became my favorite TV show. So I had to put together this.

Camera Shutter?

EDIT: Heh, figures, as I write this post, I figured out the first issue. The other question I had, involves a different character and a complete different problem. This character is a robot, known as a Geth, named Legion. His "eye" has a lens like a camera shutter, it opens and closes in t...

White Lines on Patterns

I'm having a slight issue with patterns. I get white lines when I zoom in or out at random and I'm not sure how to fix it. The pattern is a parchment pattern I got off deviantArt from a free stock, that I cut down a bit in GIMP. Here is a screenshot of the problem: http://i112.photobucket.com/albums...

Re: Suzette the Pirate

Perhaps I should have added more detail. But at the same time her clothing is based on gear that can be acquired in game, so I wanted something fellow players would recognize. But I do agree I could have added more detail and less smoothness to the clothing without ruining the familiarity. I think I...

Suzette the Pirate

http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/280/9/2/suzette_by_jkuhl-d4c44xt.png Spent a lot of time making this. I'm hoping for feedback. She is a pirate and a rogue, a blood elf from the warcraft series. I used a reference image and am hoping to wean myself off references a bit more.

Re: Connecting nodes?

You cannot form a T shape or an X with strokes.

However, you can simply take two strokes, make them cross and then if it is essential that they become one object, stroke to path and then object union. Or simply leave them as they are and use Combine as Druban said.

Re: Inkscape Gets very resource heavy, after using sometime

At a high level zoom, if you have a lot of blurs and other filters, it gets really slow so if you aren't working on those filters, go to View->Display Mode-> No Filters. This helps immensely when zoomed in very far. To turn the filters back on, simply go back to Display Mode -> Normal Other than tha...

Re: any way to avoid moving sliders with keyboard?

I've found a similar irritation working with blurs. I'd blur a shade or something, get it the way I like and then start pressing page-up or down to move it to the proper order (like if I'm creating a drop shadow) but rather than changing order, it changes the size of the blur. I've found you have to...

Display Mode - Blurs

Blurs tend to slow my render speed, which makes drawing a bit more difficult. If I have a blur in a layer that I've completed, I tend to turn the layer's visibility off until I'm ready to save the final version. What I'd like to see is under the display mode, an option to toggle off blurs. Maybe ins...

Re: Checker pattern (mildy nsfw)

Those hands were just thrown in to get the objects in place, I haven't really touched them yet. But now that you mention it, yes that hand is backwards! And I know why too. When I was drawing it, I actually put my hand to my chin to simulate that gesture. Pulled it away to look at it, and naturally ...

Re: Checker pattern (mildy nsfw)

Awesome, I'm glad it worked! ...copied it a few times and used a union to put it all together. Oh, I thought it was just for the underwear. But it sounds like you needed a larger area? I'd love to see the final image :D Yes, just for the underwear. I just made it bigger so I'd have a lot to work wi...

Re: Checker pattern (mildy nsfw)

And that worked. Thanks

I actually used the perspective extension. I made the checkerboard as you explained, copied it a few times and used a union to put it all together. Then I applied the extension, put it in place and applied a clip to hide the extra.

Re: Sharp Points

One thing you can do is the stroke to path (S2P) function. First, make a duplicate of your object as the S2P function will remove the fill. Leave it on top of the original object. Remove the stroke of the original object. Take your new stroke and use the node edit tool to make the tips sharper. Alri...

I put NSFW because some companies might have policies against this even though its meant to be funny, not racy. Its my paladin from WoW. The joke is, for those who don't play Warcraft, she showed up to her raid and forgot something rather obvious. http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n188/dondelavega/...

Am I using the Calligraphy Tool wrong?

I just found an issue with the calligraphy tool. I've updated to 0.48. Whatever preset I use, whatever settings I use for the tool, it does not work. It sort of "flickers" a stroke erratically as I click and drag (or use my tablet pen,) but the stroke disappears. There's nothing for me to ...

Re: old pen tool functionality.

I tried using a tablet and perhaps if I was better at free hand drawing, I'd get more use out of it. But I prefer to work with my mouse.

Anywho, like I said, no big deal. I'll just have to get use to the change.

old pen tool functionality.

in 0.47 if I wanted to end a stroke with the pen/bezier tool :tool_pen:, all I had to do was right click and it placed the last node in the stroke and ended the stroke. In 0.48, I have to left click to place the node and then right click to end the stroke. Is there a way to go back to the functional...

Shading

Below is a blood elf priest from WoW, its incomplete, I haven't done the detail on her staff and the background is really just a color that gave me better contrast than white 178162584 My question is on the shading. Shading is something I'm not good at and I don't want her to look like a paper doll....
