Re: Mac UI, COCOA Port
You seem to imply that X11 backend of Gtk+ causes Inkscape to be slow and unstable on Mac OS X. I still have to see prove of this. Most performance- and stability-related issues (or bottlenecks) in Inkscape (as well as related bugs triggering crashes) are cross-platform and do not depend on the bac...

Re: Mac UI, COCOA Port
I would really like to see a native OS X implementation of Inkscape. Has any progress been made?

Re: Inkscape and OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
fonts are recognized, similar issues with bold/regular not being distinguished properly. for example, I can't get Futura medium to show up, I appear to get a bold variant. I got the Futura to show up as not-bold by opening the code editor and removing the "font-weight" (like in CSS) entry...

Re: Inkscape and OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
Are you asking me? I thought you had already upgraded to SL since your initial question ;-) But re-reading your comment it could also have meant 'I got that code when I upgraded Inkscape '... But the same question goes to ScrappyDew , who first reported the python error message. I think if this hap...

Re: Inkscape and OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
I upgraded, 46 doesn't work. 47 pre release does work however I'm having issues using the effects such as patterns around a path feature in the Extensions Menu... I get this error. The fantastic lxml wrapper for libxml2 is required by inkex.py and therefore this extension. Please download and insta...

Inkscape and OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
Now that Snow Leopard is out, is there any word on whether 0.46 or 0.47pre works on Snow Leopard? Any lucky early upgraders maybe know one way or another? Because I would rather wait for a compatible version than end up being forced to use Parallels. Is it just a matter of compiling it on the system...

Re: Expected cost of OS X Snow Leopard full version
I have a MacBook running Tiger. I would like to go to Snow Leopard when it is released to take advantage of the smaller footprint and better efficiency. I would like to take the most cost efficient route for my upgrade. I know that Leopard owners can upgrade for $29. I also know that I can get Leop...

Mac OS X Tiger and Inkscape 0.47?
I have a Mac from 2007 that runs Mac OS X Tiger, but the only 0.47 pre-release builds are for Leopard. Will the final version support Tiger?
If not, maybe I'll upgrade to Snow Leopard in September. Which begs the question, will 0.47 work on Snow Leopard?

Re: Is A Bitmap Rendered As SVG Upon Import?
No. When you import a bitmap, Inkscape treats it like a bitmap. You can convert it to SVG by doing something like (i'm going from memory here) selecting the PNG, going to the menubar and choosing Path>Trace bitmap and the choosing a color too with a few steps. It will then create an SVG based on it,...

Thank you guys.
Continued advice or a tablet recommendation is welcome. And if tablet support exists in Windows but not Mac, I'll just use Parallels.

Wacom tablets?
I was looking at this tablet on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000V9T2JA/ and wondering if I could use this to draw sketches in Inkscape. Because I use Inkscape in Mac OS X and it goes through X11. Could I use this tablet in such a way?
Thanks

Re: Letters in menus disappeared!
If it helps solve the problem... I replaced the intel version of Inkscape with a PowerPC build (to use Rosetta) and the letters showed up. Still, I don't want to have to emulate an already slow (x-11) program.

You have to specify what aspect of the gradient you're looking for.

Okay, guys. The contest is here http://inkscapers.deviantart.com/journal/16001755/
I'm not a deviantart member, so how do I enter the contest?
Also, do you have any suggestions for improvement in my above proposal? Like are the glow and reflection nice? Any modifications to the blue waves?

Help with python needed for Effects on Mac
Hi, I'm using a dev version of Inkscape on my (intel) Mac. I wanted to do some of the things in the Effects menu, but when I click on something, I get a message which says, "The fantabulous lxml wrapper for libxml2 is required by inkex_lxml.py and therefore this extension. Please download the l...

Splashscreen for 0.46?
Hi (I just joined this forum), I'm wondering if there is going to be another contest soon for the new splashscreen for Inkscape, when 0.46 is released? I was thinking I could make a splash screen, but I didn't know how/when one would be chosen. http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/5532/inkscape046spla...
