Re: Join connected line segments that form open structure
I'm going to fire Lazur for also not understanding my question! Sorry I just had to type that as it's such a perfect pun. It's just that.. "Join nodes joins all open ends" Try to do that with thousands of open ends — with 0% human error.

Re: Join connected line segments that form open structure
@SUMATORIO I'm afraid you have not. And before typing such a long winded post please read my question carefully. That saves us both a lot of time. 1. I know how to join lines. I asked how to do it bulk because I have thousands of line segments. 2. I know how to draw connected paths. I said that I [a...

Join connected line segments that form open structure
I just typed a whole post, pressed Submit, and got a login page again, pressed Login and got an empty "new topic" page again :x :x :x How can I join line segments (example attached) that form open structures? My design has many thousands of line segments. When I select all nodes using :too...

Docked side panel too wide
Because I have a single-monitor laptop I dock my panels (floating panels just get in the way). I'm using the gtkrc-hidpi theme because I have a 200% DPI scaling in Windows 8.1. However the docked panels can't be shrunken below 1220px (about 45% of my screen width!!). Even when I use the old gtkrc pr...

Re: move object from transparent layer changes opacity
I just found another really annoying effect of this bug. I have a document with 11 layers and an object that I accidentally created on the wrong layer. I move it from layer 2 to layer 7 using repeated Shift + PgUp , and I end up with a transparent object because Layers 3 and 4 just happen to be tran...

Re: move object from transparent layer changes opacity
Yes, I used Screen blending in my design. I use layer opacity as it gives another effect than with object transparency*. I noticed transparency transfer with Normal blending mode too so I assumed the same behavior. If there is no filter in that case then the situations are different but both still t...

move object from transparent layer changes opacity
I'm trying to move an object from a transparent layer to an opaque layer. In my expectation the object should become fully opaque as if the object was created in that layer instead. For example: Create an design with two layers, Set the transparency of the top layer to 40%, Draw a circle of 40x40mm ...

Re: Clipboard Issues with Inkscape under windows...
Digging up an old thread because this issue is still not solved after 5 years, and moreover, I only found this thread by accident as googling several different interpretations of the complex symptoms did not lead me here. After googling and not finding anything, I continued working and noticed addit...

Re: Font display name
Well, for sure it's a feature not a bug, because it doesn't prevent people from *being able to* do things, it's just more difficult to do things, and not in an awkward way. Speaking of bugs, when I unfold the font lister and alt-tab away, the font lister stays on top and doesn't go away. When I alt-...

Re: Font display name
Sorry for the confusion. My windows is English, but I installed the CJK language pack. Although Windows contains some Japanese fonts by default, these are half of the time displayed in English as well, but the "id-#" fonts and a few hundred others I downloaded, always show in Japanese, wha...

Font display name
Why are the font names displayed in Inkscape GUI in a different language from other windows programs? In all windows programs, except Inkscape, fonts names are displayed in their own native language (for Japan-specific fonts, this is Japanese) but in Inkscape they are always displayed in English. Th...

Re: Changing Text Values for Multiple Text Objects
Resurrecting an old thread because I have the same issue, however I cannot use a text editor to replace/all text. I'm making study material for Japanese class, and on every page there are 10 Japanese characters (kanji) to practice, and each character is shown small, large and in two different fonts....

Re: Grid disabled but visible?
I already found two ways to solve this. - Hold shift while dragging (slightly cumbersome because holding shift too soon while intending to begin a drag deselects the object) - Disable grid snapping in the snap toolbar (weird that the snapping button in the document properties isn't logically linked ...

Grid disabled but visible?
Is there a way to make the grid visible and disabled at the same time? Whenever I disable the grid, the grid becomes invisible and the checkbox to toggle the visibility (in document properties) is grayed out...

Re: How to center text in a box
I know this is an old topic, but I haven't found an answer or workaround to this, on the forum or by searching the net, and then I accidentally found a workaround myself. ⋅ Create a shape and a text object. Do not flow them. ⋅ Open the "Align and distribute objects (Shift+Ct...
